I Just did a t/s presentation @ GEVC today. I know that the general consensus is to avoid these presentations like the plague. What I'm sharing, however, is simply my personal opinion and is listed here with the purpose of adding a bit of clarity as to what GEVC is ( since there doesn’t seem to be a review here)
I still have some questions regarding specific details but for the most part I feel I can write a review of GEVC.
For starters, the presentations went exactly as every other one we've read about. From the lobby greeting, to the video, to the one-on-ones and the continuous upsell by managers, it was all standard protocol.
What they are selling is a 10k RCI points package. The cost for said package is around $8k and Mf run about $250/ year. Their main marketing focus was the extra vacations and the last minute calls. They built their entire presentation around the fact that you can get full vacations for $500. Of course they don't mention that the inventory at that price is either low quality, AI mandatory or simply not available when you want to travel.
They also Bill themselves as being "one" with RCI saying things like "we have an A rating with the bbb" or "We give you access to 4,000 resorts world wide". As a matter of fact their actual presentation is simply going through the RCI web page and pulling up the extra vacations page (with a filter of $300-$499, which you would only notice if you have spent as much time on RCI as I have).
The main speaker was a super charismatic guy who used to sell funeral plots. I would not characterize his speech as lies, but rather distortions of the truth.
In the end, I did as I always do. At the 95 minute mark, I simply stood up and said that this was not for me. I did not explain why, or try to argue why I thought this was not a good product, I simply stood up. I went through a very quick round of the managers, and was lead to the gifting desk fairly quickly. The entire experience from door to door was 110 minutes. My gift for going is RT Hawaii airfare and acomodations for 2 (there are some hoops you have to jump through, but for the most part, I'd say it was worth 2 hours of my day)
Although I would not recommend this company in general, I do think for some it might serve a purpose. ONLY If you can find one of these re-sale for a buck, it can be a very cheap way to have access to RCI last call inventory, and any other good things there may be about RCI.
If you have any questions feel free to ask.
