Hello,

I am new to timeshare. I just want to buy something to try it first. I saw this one - GLOBAL EXCHANGE MEMBERSHIP RCI POINTS TIMESHARE USAGE for sale (No deed, just a perpetual membership), Does any one know what this is? Is it worth buying?

Thank you very much.

Cher

Never heard of them.

If you want to try out RCI points, there is a system which I have heard about which lets you lease RCI points for 3 years at a time. Pay a small fee and get points for 3 years. Then walk away if you want.

Look at this link for more info.

PS I have nothing to do with the people leasing these RCI point packages.

Are you talking about the Global Exchange Vacation Club or something else as I have experience with the GEVC.

Yes, I think it is Global Exchang Membership Club. Is it a good deal to buy their RCI points?

Thank you for helping.

I think I saw the ebay ad you were referring to. 19,000 points went for $76. That's a good purchase price but the MF of $228 is a bit on the high side.

Check for Problems with Global Exchange

RCI referred me to Global Exchange as a source for "pure points" purchase. However, a bit of Googling on GE turned up some alarmingly negative customer comments so, I backed off pretty fast. I can't say that I did enough research to determine whether these cautions were justified, but I would do more "digging" before buying from GE.

My opinion of GEVC

GEVC was my first TS experience and I am glad I am no longer associated with them.

I cannot recommend GEVC to you in any way, no matter what the price. Their customer service is non existant so you are pretty much on your own when it come to dealing with RCI. They deposit your point allotment annually into your RCI account on your anniversary date, which seems to be the norm for points based clubs. The MF are billed through a third party collection firm and are priced per point owned.

You own membership in their "vacation club" and you do not hold title to any property. The Club owns the property. I got the impression that they got their inventory by buying up distressed properties and then converted them to points and sold these points to club members. I never had a good feeling about being an owner as I owned nothing except a piece of paper and not a deed.

If the Club ever became insolvent, you would have nothing but your membership piece of paper. That being said, there is nothing wrong with point systems as long as a major, financially solvent company stands behind them.

IMO, I would pass on any deal to purchase a membership in GEVC.

Thank you for the comments. I think I will buy points from somewhere else.

Cher
