Getting ready for my first stay- what’s the most common equipment available in fitness centers and or for rent at resorts?

headed for our first stay- and wondering what to expect…

Which resort? Typically there are a couple of treadmills, perhaps a couple of ellipticals, perhaps one or two multi-station weight machines, sometimes some barbells and/or free weights, sometimes some yoga mats, weight balls, exercise balls, etc. It really depends on the resort though and how much space the gym area has available.

Have a few mostly Wyndhams coming up so trying to find out if a can expect as a somewhat standard.

First stay up is Sea Gardens November, Smoky Mountains December than Dolphins Cove January, Febuary is grand dessert….

it annoys me that they don’t make an attempt to break it down on the resort homepage- fitness center does not tell me much

Unfortunately I've not personally been to any of the four resorts you reference - so hopefully some other gym-going TUGGERs will reply here and provide more explicit guidance specific to Sea Gardens, Smoky Mountains, Dolphin's Cove, and Grand Desert resort activities center equipment available...

You mean people actually use that equipment?

Smoky Mountain in Sevierville has a fitness center in the check in building. It has three treadmills, some weights. I only use the treadmill. Might be an elliptical there and bike but not sure

Why not just contact the resort(s). Phone numbers are published in the directory. That way it will be up to date information, although, it probably doesn't change often, if at all.

I have heard that your home gym membership will get you complementary access to gyms when you travel. Not that I'm in any danger of using such when traveling.

Happy Travels!

We sometimes use the activities center at "local" resorts that we frequent, usually OTA or NH - sometimes Wyndham Shawnee - though we prefer to hike or walk outside at Shawnee weather permitting. Of the three I prefer NH as they have the best equipment, but all three have decent equipment that is generally in good working condition. Get up at a decent time and hit the treadmill or elliptical for 30-60 minutes and some light lifting and then back to the room, or after returning from a day out. Whatever works LOL.

To be honest- I really am often slightly shocked how little information is available online with Wyndham as big as they are…honestly I would have thought there would be a basic kinda uniform standard…all resorts may not have everything but all resorts have….

why am not calling the first resort on the list well - supposed to be under as hurricane watch and seems kinda silly to tie up the phone lines especially when this group is pretty knowledgeable…

Maybe, at best, you can catch a glimpse of them in the media gallery. Most are very nice, IMO. I'd wonder about Dolphin Cove. It's been a long time since I've been there, and I don't remember it at all. I remember running the perimeter (and it's not the best area, probably not recommended).

There used to be pictures of the fitness center, the game room/activity room and a resort map on the resort pages. I know the resort maps are gone but I thought the fitness center pictures were mostly still there.
