I'm thinking of going on a last minute trip to Cancun in a couple of weeks but check in at the Royal Islander is Saturdays and I may not be able to fly down until Sunday or Monday...will they hold my room and allow me to check in a day or two late?

You must notify the resort in advance - get their response in writing - email or Fax.
Denise's suggestion is a good one. Just use the Contact Us link on royalresorts.com, send them the II confirmation number and say when you're coming.
Once II puts the villa in your name and sends you a confirmation, you will be on the list. However, the courtesy of advance notice can give them a bit more time to get your villa ready.
We've never had a problem coming a bit late.
