Hi,

my father bought this (From RCI) originally 20 years ago (emotional purchase at a milestone wedding anniversary). He tried getting out of it to no avail 15 years ago. Now he is retired and on minimal pension and still unable to get out of it.

all I can glean from his member website is that his member ship category is its GHI. Which doesn’t tell me much.

legal contract says it’s a 45 year deal. It mentions a termination process but I can’t find it.

most websites that propose to help appear to be further scams.

Is there any option other than to stop paying and take the credit hit ( and hope he doesn’t need to borrow in next 7-8 years)?

I believe The Geo Group is a Canadian company. You Didn’t mention where your father is located.

He is paying fo 20k points a year. Somewhere in the region if cad1 to 1.2k

#1. Don’t pay anyone upfront Exit Team money. Just no.

Have him contact Geo and explain his situation and maybe they’ll let him out. If not, plan B is to stop paying. I’m not sure how credit reporting works in Canada.

yep, suggestion one is to explain to GEO of your fathers financial situation and that he is unable to continue making annual payments and wishes to amicably end the ownership.

I do not believe the ownership/membership in geo group is deeded property?

1)Geo Holidays is a points program - and there is no deed.

2 )Geo Holidays is / was based in Toronto - and did a lot of sales to Canadians 20 + years ago.
.- (the Sapphire name-brand is more recent and is used by their Las Vegas sales centre)

3) Geo is a mid level TS system with no resale value and very limited "give away" interest on TUG
-( based on prior listings & results).

4) I believe Geo has 2 Canadian properties. (north of Toronto and north of Montreal). I mention this in case there are any paid for and
unexpired points that you or your family could use for a "free" vacation before staring this process when 2022 MF is due.

5) I recall that there is a TUG thread started in the last 12 months by a Canadian owner who had decided to go
the stop paying route ,(in part because of the Covid travel issue). I would assume that they were first sent letters by Geo and eventually went to collection.
No longer paying MF and perhaps going to collection for past due MF on a fully paid for TS points contract (non deeded) is likely your Dad's
best option.

6) If you can find the thread - you can "Conversation-DM that person and find out more.
