Just returned from MOC. In town gas $4.50 a gallon, Costco, $3.99. Went to Costco station Sunday 9 am and no line.

Sometimes Costco is a big savings on gas, sometimes not much. The most interesting point you made was no line at Costco in Kahului on Sunday morning. I have never seen it without big lines, but I have never gone on Sunday morning.

Maui Costco Gas

I don't think a lot of the Costco customers are aware there is now a gas station at the Maui location. While at the bar-b-q's at MOC I was talking with a family who went to Costco upon arrival on the island but were unaware of the gas station until I told them. You really can't see the station when you turn into the Costco entrance. When you are in a hurry to catch a flight and turn into the gas station and see a long line it is a bit of a hassle to get to another station. There is one across the street but it is a problem getting into/out of it because of traffic.

Costco gas at Kahului is really more for locals than tourists. When you rent a car, it comes full of gas, you stop for staples and necessities at Costco enroute to your timeshare. On the way back to catch a flight, you don't need anything at Costco to carry home. Are you likely to risk a long line to fuel at Costco or leave early enough to wait in one just to save at most $2.00- $3.00 on the gas before you turn in your car? Not me. I get gas at Lahaina. The gauge still reads full at turn in, and the miles to Kahului are freebies.

Jim, you are correct. We usually catch a later flight out and I don't risk stopping at Costco for gas.
