Curious as to why rebranding under Hyatt.

How many resorts did they add? "And a one and a two..." (I'm here all week... seriously, I'm here. I wish I was some place sunny.)

Makes sense since there is Marriott already in most of Welk locations. Are the quality of welk resorts more in line with Hyatt? Hyatt is def a step above

We are Welk Owners. They have resorts in San Diego (3), Palm Springs, Lake Tahoe (2), Cabo San Lucas, Breckenridge and Branson. We love their resorts and have also stayed at Hyatt Residence Clubs and Marriotts. I would say they are at the same level as the HRC. They were mostly all Elite resorts with Interval but they switched to RCI a few years ago as RCI Platinum.

We own three weeks at Welk and they traded fairly well in both RCI and II. We usually trade into RCI for points annuall, however the points have gone down considerably over the last three years. we have stayed at the Welk resort in San Diego at least ten times and the rooms are awesom. The resort is actually three phases, one is the old dedicated two bedroom units. The second is a standand lock off room with gorgeous views and amenitie. On top of the hill or mountain is the third group. They are the newest and nicest rooms. We always love going to the resort but it’s a long drive to anywhere.

I just looked at my email and found notification from Hyatt on this. Interesting and certainly adds to the Hyatt portfolio for Hyatt owners. Makes me glad we purchased two additional weeks at Hyatt Sunset Harbor late last year. Now if I can just get Hyatt to get the transfers done. It’s taking them forever.

I hope Welk will be on par with Hyatt.

Since @dannybaker noted above that his Welk weeks trade in RCI, I wonder if Hyatt will also trade within RCI or if the Welks will go the way of trading only through II?

You can bet your life the former Welks will eventually go back to Interval. It's just a matter of when the RCI contract ends.
It has been several years, but we went to Welk a couple of times near San Diego when it was still in Interval. I remember nice big units and well kept grounds. At those times, I would consider that property very nice but not as nicely furnished as a Marriott or Hyatt.
