If the storm passes through on Thursday, not sure why flights would be canceled on Saturday? I believe we will be there for the "calm after the storm".

I just checked with American, and as of today, our flight is still on track. Crossing fingers. :)

I think you will be ok for Saturday.

By 1400h Saturday Rina is expected to be located somewhere north of Cuba, and closer to Key West than to Cancun. Unless Rina wreaks mass destruction when passing through Cancun, I believe that flights will be operational again by then.

i have a friend booked into Royal Haciendas for Saturday checkin as well. My concern is flooding and damage left behind - flights may be ok by Saturday, but if the resort has damage that takes a while to fix, the vacation may be no fun - e.g. flooded beach, broken vegetation, sand in the pool, etc.

Hummm., unless the flights are cancelled or the Royals ask us to stay home, we will be heading to the Hacienda's on Saturday. Maybe a blessing, but this year for part of the time my husband and I are planning on going to Merida. We already have bus tickets booked from Playa to Merida for Monday Oct.31 and return back to Playa on Nov. 3. Hopefully the roads will be ok for the bus!

My friend is still planning on going too, I booked her this week through our Interval membership. I will be watching the developments for now and see what the storm brings by Friday.

Good luck Maja. I would do the same thing. Just returned Sat. from week 41 Royal Islander. Last year week 41 we prepared for a hurricane that turned away in the last hours. 5/6 yrs. ago week 41 Wilma came in. You just never know!

Thanks! It looks like the storm is weakening, and by Saturday it will be long gone heading towards Cuba. I look at it like this, if it does cause a lot of damage, maybe this will be a give back vacation to help the locals! :)
