Has anyone rented a week from Marriott at Frenchmans cove. Was wondering for rental thru marriott do you get good room selection. Didnt want a room in the crown building to far from the pool. Didnt know would we get a better room if we rented from an owner, interval, or rented with marriot. Or is it all luck what room you get

I don't know about Frenchman's Cove specifically, but I can tell you that at the MVC resorts we frequent both cash reservations and II are given 'bottom of the barrel' villa assignments just above marketing stays (aka Encore).

Renting from an owner seems very resort dependent with some resorts putting any week that has a guest form attached toward the bottom behind owner occupied weeks and points reservations but above cash/II. Others rank them higher.

Yea i kind of knew II was given low priority. But I didnt know about rental from Marriott. I am a Frenchman cove owner so I did t know if that would help me. I gave up my Frenchmans cove week for points 2025 already.

It really depends how busy the resort is. I exchanged through II there and was given a great ocean view room. I find if the resort is not busy they will honor a view request even if Garden view booking.

Frenchman's Cove doesn't have "garden view" bookings. There are no view designations at the resort. Thus why villa placement can be important there.

Again, the room assignment department at every resort operates differently. I can tell you that as a multi week owner at Waiohai they gave us a nice villa assignment when we stayed on points…but I don’t know how Frenchman’s cove works.

Honestly, I think Frenchman’s cove is almost unique among MVC resorts in that all the buildings have good views from the higher floors. And while you don’t want to be in Crown, some people prefer it because it’s the most convenient for getting taxis and the Westin Shuttle.

I have a reservation there on points and it says Oceanside.

Perhaps, but that doesn't change the fact that all the units are the same view type.

Ah ok the views are all Oceanside. I guess that’s fine then.

They are all called that yes. They did not sell any different view types there.

In Marriott vernacular “Oceanside” typically means “close to the ocean”- doesn’t necessarily mean “you will be able to see the ocean from your balcony”. Maybe; maybe not. Just depends on your unit placement.

Thanks for clarifying so I guess Oceanview is better then.

"Owners returning" are not relegated to the lower units, and always have somewhat of an an advantage in unit assignments,
whether it's thru Interval or a rental from Marriott. You need to call the Rooms Control person there
and remind them that you are an owner. I'm sure it will help, even though it's not a regular ownership week.

Though at the only two resorts with which I'm familiar that have '...side' as a view option, side is better than view. So at St Kitts the Oceanside villas are in better than Oceanview and at Crystal Shores on Marco Island, the Gulf side villas have better views than Gulf view (though neither are anywhere near as nice as Gulf front).

Not necessarily better- just different.

Take Oceanwatch for example. The Oceanside view is in the buildings closer to the beach; but the ocean view villas are higher up just in the further back buildings.

Same way at Surf Club. Oceanside is all in lighthouse closer to the beach than compass or spyglass where the Oceanview rooms are.

At most resorts that have both Oceanside & Oceanview the Oceanside were priced higher.

Definitely want to avoid lower levels - we were there last year and our room was just above the surprisingly noisy street and our 'view' was blocked nearly completely by the building across the street. We booked with points, own elsewhere in the system.
