We will be going for the first time in early March and just received our email to submit our vacation preferences. We have 3 separate reservations strung together to complete our 8 nights on VC points, hopefully we won't have to move.

This board has been so helpful in planning our trip. But haven't read anything regarding whether or not we should sign up for the Cat dinner sail. Is it worth it?
What about the Monday Night Beach Festival? We can sign up early for both at a small discount vs when we arrive.

Looking forward to some beach and sun!

Thanks in advance for your advice.

we looked at the cat dinner sail, but after reviews from a few folks that we enjoyed long conversations with in the pool...we decided to pass.

it is interesting that all the wives said they enjoyed it...but universally all the husbands said it was a waste of time/money as it didnt really "cruise" much of anywhere.

If you are looking for a more significant full day outing on the water... when we were there this past May, our kids and their boy/girl friends did the Breakaway tour to The Baths at Virgin Gorda, Diamond Reef for Snorkeling, Marina Cay for Lunch and Jost Van Dyke and the famous Soggy Dollar Bar.

It was their favorite day of the trip. They would do it again in a flash. I booked in advance through the Reef's Adventure Center (http://www.adventurecenters.net/), but you can also book it once you get there.

Here are a couple relevant websites if you are interested....

Heading back down to the beach with some drinks. I'll post again later but I would pass on both. If you want to go on a boat ride check out the private vendors. The Cat ride isn't all the popular here. There will be no problem booking it while your here. It's also one of the perks they offer for going to the show.

We already have a private cruise booked for a full day out snorkeling and island hopping on Thursday. Was just thinking the evening sail would be nice.

Thanks for sharing, we are looking at this resort for a change from a seven day cruise to a seven day land vacation.

OK, mixed review on both. Was just wondering if beer and wine were available for the dinner on Monday night and not just Rum Punch. Does anyone know?

Used Nauti Nymph for private tour for us, son, DIL, four year old and two year old. We had a blast and even though it was expensive, we will save to do it again next year.

Three years ago we did both: a seven-day cruise out of San Juan and then seven days at MFC. We got the idea when we were on a cruise a couple years earlier and some folks we met were taking 14-day back-to-back cruises. The rationale was that the lengthy flights and expense getting to the Caribbean justified spending the two weeks there.

Any idea of how many people are allowed on a single cruise?

We have just returned from our trip - 1st time to MFC and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the resort. We had strung together 3 DC point reservations for our 9 day stay. They put us in the St John building on the 5th floor. And while it was a "hike" to the pool/beach each day, the view was amazing. We didn't mind since we used it as an opportunity for our exercise. We were visited by the concierge on the 1st day after we arrived and she gave us all kinds of information about the STT and St John. I had told her when she called to make the appointment that were not interested in a presentation. She asked again at our meeting and I declined once again and that was that.
We did do the Monday BBQ and the Tuesday Cat sunset sail. Both were enjoyable - food ok but convenient and easy. We totally took advantage of the 2 for 1 happy hours each day, what a bargain. We took the boat shuttle into Charlotte Amalie one day when there were no cruise ships in town. We chartered a day sail on the "Fantasy" for snorkeling. There were only 6 of us and the captain and mate. Wonderful day on the water. Having access to the amenities at the hotel was a plus too. All in all, a wonderful vacation and we will add it to the list of resorts we need to return. Thanks again for everyone's helpful hints regarding this resort. It lived up to its reputation.
