We got a 2 bedroom Interval International Frenchman’s Cove exchange for July 2025. How is the resort beach and pool. Is there a lot of walking to get around the resort. Which buildings would you recommend for views and close to things.

wouldnt say alot of walking, but alot of stairs/elevators especially if you are in a higher unit up the hill!

beach is small, but wonderful. pool is right on the beach and the bar next to the pool serves wonderful drinks =)

The beach and pool are OK but small - we usually found them overwhelmed by the number of guests. There are many far better beaches on St Thomas worth visiting (to say nothing of St John).

The good news is that because Frenchman's Cove is located on a hillside, all of the buildings have good views - particularly from the higher floors. The resort isn't that big but there is a lot of up and down for which you can take elevators, stairs, and/or the slope of the roads.

And unlike other resorts there is no one building that is best - it's a question of personal preference. Do you most want to be closer to Pacquereau bay, the pool, the main building taxis and shuttle bus, the dining of Frenchman's Reef (the adjacent Westin/Buoy Haus), or have a view of Charlotte Amalie?

We stayed there 2 years ago. we were in St John's Building #5 at the top of the hill. Awesome views but a lot of up and down to get to the pool , beach and bar/resturant, all of which are wonderful. Pool and beach are a little small for the size of the resort, but there is not much buildsble flat land on that hillside. Concerning the beaches, getting over to St Johns is a must. They have some of the best beaches I have ever been too!
Also, be prepared to spend a small fortune on taxis to get anywhere on the island, there is nothing really close by (the hotel wasn't open when we were there).Renting a car is always an option but I just didnt want to on this trip. Luckily we were staying with another couple who we were able to split taxi expenses.
Have a great time!

Can you use any of the amenities or eat at restaurants at Westin/Buoy Haus when you stay at Frenchman's cove. Do they have a shuttle that run between the other two hotels.

How did that work? Our experience when in the USVI on cruise excursions is that taxi fares were always per person.

You can no longer use the amenities, but you can eat at the restaurants (which we did). You can walk from Frenchman's Cove to the Westin (which we did..."L" on the map I posted) but there also a shuttle bus that departs from the circle in front of the main building (Crown).

From the Westin you can walk along the beach to Buoy Haus, walk along a narrow road with a steep elevation change (which I would not recommend), or take a different shuttle bus that runs between the Westin and Buoy Haus (which we did).

At one time Frenchmans cove had a big water pillow trampoline off the beach in the water to use. Do they still have that anymore?

Our the beaches at Westin and Buoy Haus private. I didnt know if they were public or private that you could sit out at those beaches.

You can no longer use the amenities/ pools at hotel which is a big loss. You can use the bars/restaurants as they are open to the public. Yes, there was an hourly shuttle between properties run by the cove. You may not use the hotel shuttle. Before someone argues with me, all beaches are public so yes, you can take the cove shuttle over to Buoy House and enter the beach to the left of the lobby. You need to bring your own towels, chairs and umbrellas

In April they had 4 large floating mats anchored in the water.
Everyone seemed to enjoy them.

They still are per person when you get in a public taxi, if you negotiate a rate with a private van I guess it could be less.
our private van from airport to resort was the same for two people as my daughters family which was 6.

At least in January, the shuttle bus between the Cove and Westin ran far more frequently than hourly…I think every 15, 20, or 30 minutes (it seemed to leave when the driver felt like it). And the shuttle bus between the Westin and Buoy Haus ran more or less continuously.

I’m not sure what the “hotel shuttle” means in this context, but both the Cove to Reef and Reef to Buoy Haus took all comers.

We were there 4/14-5/2 over Easter and the Cove (timeshare) Shuttle ran almost every hour from 10 am to 10pm - we were given the schedule at check in. It allowed us to make dinning reservations at the hotel that coordinated with the shuttle times.
It was not continuous.
Best to inquire at checkin about the schedule.

The “hotel shuttle” would be the shuttle the Westin and Buoy Haus Hotels operated between the two lobbies. We were told they were not for timeshare guest but did not try and use them. On the other hand no one was asking anyone anything other than where they were going.

To be honest Jeremy I dont remember if it was per person or by destination. You are probably correct. The only time my wife and I traveled by ourselves was the trips to and from the airport. If I had to do it over, I would do the same. Although I love to drive, St Thomas is a place that I would not feel comfortable driving, plus my better half would make me nuts with the slow downs and be carefuls! Thats not a vacation!

It is by person. Gets very expensive with a family of 4. We went last year and spent $40 each way to anything. Will look into renting a car next time. Has to be cheaper.

Yes, I just saw this.
Lockout or day pass fees do seem to be becoming a very disappointing trend for hotels co-located with or next door to MVC resorts.
We have just returned from Club Son Antem in Mallorca and the co-located Hacienda Son Antem, Golf Resort, Autograph Collection hotel is locked out for 55 days with all facilities unavailable to MVC owners and guests 😢

Was there 2 months ago, you can take the shuttle or its an easy walk (there is a path) between the 2 properties. Tap and Still and Pizza Amore are close by for good cheap eats. Not alot of walking around the resort, however we really enjoyed snorkeling around the rocks. If wanting to take ferry over to St John- book one that leaves the Westin- so much easier to jump on ferry there. We also did snorkeling sail from believe its called Flying Frenchman (next door from Westin) -brand new beautiful sail boat. Enjoy your trip We are heading back in a few months.

there are 3 of the water lily pads to swim out to, lay on, etc.

We rented a house on Cayman two years ago and water shoes were required to snorkel or walk near the beach due to the sharp rocks/coral everywhere. Do we need to bring water shoes for St Thomas and St John beaches or is the sand/shore more like Florida beaches?

Particularly at the MVC St Thomas, getting into the water is not easy due to the rocks and the growths on the rocks. Same in some other areas, so take your water shoes if you can.

On St John we never encountered rocks...but I suppose there must be some somewhere.

On St Thomas, at the MVC there are smooth-ish rocks in the water, you need to head left (next to the dock) to enter to avoid them. Same thing at the RCC, smooth-ish rocks with gaps that people use to enter the water. In both locations the water is a bathtub so it's not as if you're going to be thrown against them.

We didn't see any rocks at Magens Bay...but the beach is enormous so it's possible we missed them. In any case, we've never felt we needed water shoes on either island.
