Frenchman’s cove rental question

Was looking at renting a 3br at Frenchman’s cove. The confirmation number they gave me starts with an 8 and it was booked end of February for a week in July. It surprised me that they would have been able to make a reservation in February for July for a 3br. I want to make sure it’s not a scam. I thought the confirmation numbers now would start with a 9. Not sure how to make sure it’s a legitimate reservation.

Confirmation numbers can start with a 7, 8 or 9. They aren't necessarily incremental. Have you tried looking up the reservation on Marriott.com using the confirmation number and owner name? Best to do this when logged out of Marriott.com.
