I find it really frustrating that Wyndham sells the benefit of exchanging your timeshare to travel to other locations but are allowed to limit our choice in exchange companies to the one they own and then charge outrageous rates that keep escalating. We should have the freedom to exchange with either II or RCI — even if we have to pay for II. They’ve created a natural market advantage for themselves. I think this is a prime opportunity for consumer protection legislation.
In my case, I own with Shell Vacations Club with an Owner’s Association Board who contracts with Wyndham to manage the Club. Does the board not have a fiduciary responsibility to the owners to preserve the value of ownership? Wouldn’t dual exchange ownership provide better value. Unfortunately, all messages to the board are filtered through Wyndham Management. They are just rubber stamping Wyndham’s agenda - there in no focus on owner value. Would love the opportunity to speak with a Shell Vacations Board member.
The offer on the table to convert from Shell Vacations to Wyndham is a downgraded money grab just like most Wyndham programs.
