This is a country resort and hotel on 200 acres about 75 mins from Milwaukee and 45 mins from Green Bay....close to Lake Michigan and 40 mins from the quaint village on the Lake at Door County.
The unit is huge with sleeping for up to 8 with little ones in the bunk beds along one hallway. The living room, kitchen and other bedrooms and baths had a Gold Crown rating two years ago so you know they try hard to make you happy. A bargain to get away with two families....
The golf course was the home of many State tournaments but plays wide open and there are 45 holes with lots of options for lesser skilled players....
The Lake is fantastic with nice beaches and fishing charters available in nearby Two Rivers but the topography and lake shore areas are great to enjoy as well.
Here is what the reviews say:
This is a hidden gem of a resort...very close to I-43 halfway between Green Bay and Milwaukee...10 minutes from Lake Michigan and very nice beaches.
The resort is large with 2 indoor and 2 outdoor pools; 45 holes of golf; spa; restaurant; & sports bar.
Its beauty is in its location, being close to everything but away from it all.
The units are large with over 1250 sq ft. and have whirlpool tubs in 2 of the 3 bathrooms. The units are lock offs so you can take friends along and they can either join you or have their own space. The walls in the units are very wide and darn near sound proof so it's always quiet.
Kitchen is nicely sized, having all the amenities including dishwasher and garbage disposal.
All units have decks and golf course view.
The resort went through all the units and did a significant makeover that made the units stand out in the crowd with updated furniture, cabinets, appliances, bathroom makeovers, new carpeting and flat screen tv's in the living rooms.
Fox Hills is a big hotel and golf resort in the town of Mishicot, WI with a population of 1400. However, there are only 16 villas with 4 units each. All staff was extremely helpful.
We visited Lambeau Field where the Green Bay Packers play. We took the official tour and visited the Hall of Fame and highly recommend both.
We visited Door County for the day - a beautiful drive with lots of small towns. Appleton is great for shopping. The Fox River Mall (with over 180 stores) is there surrounded by a lot of other stores, One of our favorite things to do was driving to Kohler. We weren't able to take the official tour - it starts very early in the morning but did go through the display rooms and museum. We ate lunch at The Horse and Plow in the American Club.
We would highly recommend it. We visited the NEW Zoo in Suamico (northwest of Green Bay) - a small well organized zoo with nice grounds. While in Suamico we ate lunch in a wonderful relaxing restaurant called Chives. It is an eclectic type eatery with a very diverse menu. We would go there again in a minute!!
We would like to visit this part of Wisconsin again and would stay at Fox Hills again
The 2 bedrooms were quite large--2 queens and a king. Each had their own bathroom. Between these rooms was a large living/dining area with 2 sofas, coffee tables, end tables and a very heavy round table for eating. There was also a gas fireplace.
There were 3 bathrooms for the entire condo, which was great. The bedroom baths had hot tub baths with showers. The entry bath to the living room had a regular bath tub with shower. We had difficulty getting the jets to work, however. There was ample very hot water.
The pool was very nice. The indoor pool was very large and had an additional large hot tub. Lots of area around the pool for tables, chairs, etc. There was an outside pool as well.
We went to the lake to let the children play and we went to a nature center in Two Rivers for a hike. They have large osprey nests and we enjoyed watching them fly in and assumedly feeding their young. There are many neat things to do in the area. We read that the naval museum was fantastic in Manitowoc. The resort is close to Door County.
The resort listed 2 Piggly-Wiggly stores in Two Rivers and a Wal-mart in Manitowoc, and just a few minutes further than Two Rivers, by the county routes. We found groceries to be much cheaper there. When we originally looked at the map, we thought Manitowoc was much further. We took the road south outside the condo and with 2-3 turns we were on there.
