I've been using my phone to access the internet. I like chrome but do have a bunch of apps. Today I found the tug app while changing passwords. So far it seems the same as using chrome.

TUG does not have an app.

the site does have a mobile format though based on the size of the screen of the device you are working on!

Uh oh.

Perhaps you found TapaTalk? It's been around a long time and been discussed here on multiple occasions. It can be used for multiple online forums. If you found something else purporting to be related to TUG, then you might have been had/scammed.

It says Tug app at the bottom of the list to see things. It's the last thing you see after pushing the three lines on the upper left side. It loaded an app into my apps.

Is this not supposed to be here ? It's no longer there. Wtf.

Perhaps you could post a screen shot?

@TUGBrian I loaded the app from the tugbbs today. It's no longer there.

When you tap it, what does it do? Just open up in the default browser? Perhaps a screen shot of that too?

What is that 2nd picture? Can't see the whole screen. Popcorn is popped.
The first pic is in my app pages on my phone. The second Pic is where I deleted the tug app in the settings.

I did scan all of the apps and no threats were found.

Did you install it from the app store?

Brian says there is no such app, so you probably clicked on a fake ad and downloaded it. Where did you acquire this "app?"

I just looked under the three lines again and the tug app appeared again. Probably because I un-installed it.

I see that too but never noticed it before !

I never noticed it until today. I've been using my phone this trip and have had a few online problems like all of my emails disappeared but came back. Now this.

Bill

I don't see this in Chrome or Safari on iOS.

Figured it out. You installed a PWA (progressive web app) through chrome. Not a real app, just like a shortcut.

I'm not able to change my tug password. I changed it earlier today.

Thanks Dave. When I just tried to change my password I got the opps message a minute ago. I will try again.

I was able to change my tug password.

I'm not sure what you mean but there is an item at the bottom of the drop down called tug app and it shows up in the phones app settings and app folders.

Did you read my posts? This is a feature in Chrome for Android. When you click on the CHROME (not TUG) menu, you have a choice to add to home screen. This then leads to the following choice:

If you choose install, you get this screen:

This is not a native app like in the app store. It is a chrome feature that creates a PWA (see link above.) It basically is a cache of the website within chrome, that opens more like an app than a browser. It may be useful for static websites that you can then access when offline, but not for a forum. Just create a shortcut (as noted above) and use the website.
