We own at Marriott Desert Springs Villas 2 in Palm Desert, CA. It's one of our favorite locations, and easy for us to reach from home. We've visited many times over the years and I'm always looking for new things to do in the area.

I found this recently. This is a tour of public murals in the area. We've done walking tours of murals in several cities, and enjoyed them, but this would be a driving tour for us. I don't remember ever reading about this on TUG.

If you enter that website in your phone, scroll down to the bottom of the page and find the map. You'll have to play with the map to decide how to best use it. Tapping "Show List" under the map will bring up a list of the cities in the area and all the murals. I think you could either take this drive from West to East (Desert Hot Springs, Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Palm Desert, La Quinta, Indio, Coachella) or the reverse. Tapping the name or the number for a particular mural will bring up a link to driving directions. You can also use the checkboxes to select or deselect particular cities.

We are in Palm Springs, on Easter Sunday, and planned to play Rummikube all afternoon. A mural tour is perfect for a day when many things are closed.

There's actually quite a bit more if you explore the Arts and Culture website:

There's also a phone app, but I haven't downloaded or tried it yet.

Another thing that I found was this page: https://www.visitgreaterpalmsprings.com/blog/post/your-guide-to-public-art-in-greater-palm-springs/. This has a guide to public art in the area, but it's quite basic and leaves out a lot of sites. However, when we have a chance someday to follow the mural tour, I thought Etherea in the Coachella area looked very interesting.

Moorten Botanical gardens! Ask Clark Moorten about his dad Slim, founder of the garden and once a keystone cop. Also about his dear old walking horse…
