Not really sure what it is. It's definitely not a USA coin. It's heavy like a silver dollar. Not really sure it's good luck , bad luck or nothing. My wife read that it's good luck.

About $2.75 on Ebay. Where did you get it?

I found it along with a bag of 38 special bullets while picking up trash next to the river about 100 yards downstream from our cabin. This area belongs to our cabin group but isn't fenced off nor posted so we occasionally get people camping here in the summer. It's a river bend with sand beach, cliffs and mossy trees and we occasionally hang out here too.

Originally I thought it was a half dollar. Then I saw the date and grim reaper and almost tossed it into the river. It kind of creeped me out. Not too far away from this beach is a shale slide where we target shoot so finding the bullets kind of makes sense but is still unusual. The usual finds are clothing items, cans and garbage.

Now I'm wondering what to do with this thing. It's just not my type of thing even though I read it brings protection, good luck, prosperity and money. My first instinct was the creeps so I'm probably going to toss it.

It creeps me out too. Sell it to a coin dealer. They may be thrilled, even if you don’t get much.

It's a contemporary Chinese made replica or fantasy takeoff of a US peace dollar hobo coin. No value, likely silver plated at best.

As mentioned above, nickels were typically chosen for 'hobo coins' during the 30s. A silver dollar was a considerable amount of money to be defacing for artistic purposes at that time! But creation of fantasy pieces could date to just about any time since.

How did you know it was called a "Walking Reaper coin?"

I found out when I went home and searched Google. There is no phone service or internet at that location. Even though it creeped me out I originally thought it was an old silver dollar. A friend returned a text this morning and he thinks the coin and the bullets belong to his nephew that were at his cabin last weekend. These items were next to an old log that is next to this river swimming hole. Mostly what I find are empty cans and piles of paper towels. If it wasn't for my grandkids playing in the area I wouldn't be cleaning the area. I helped the grandkids build a fort pretty close to this area so lately I check the area.

I have never seen a US fantasy coin. They were popular with French royalists who minted quite a few coins in various franc denominations for Bourbon pretenders to the throne during the 19th century. The French varieties normally carry the proper silver content of official coins of the period.
