Questions for those of you who own at the Makai Club in Princeville:

Since Grand Pacific Resorts took over managing things, has your ability to reserve your time there, or rent it privately changed at all? Are you allowed to exchange through GPR's internal program to their other resorts? Will they rent your time for you, as they do for owners at their GPR-owned resorts?

GPR is taking over management of Kauai Beach Villas in January, and I'm wondering if things there for owners are likely to change.

Thanks,
Dave

Wow, 100 views and no replies? That's surprising! Does anybody on Tug own there?

I have ownership there but several years ago I placed it into the Wyndham affiliate program so that I automatically get 155,000 Wyndham reservation points each year for my 1 bedroom unit and don't have to worry about depositing or trading it each year. I have driven through the resort when we have been on Kauai a couple of times and also attended an owners meeting when they were explaining the remodeling a couple of years ago (yes, I got hit with a special assessment - but the remodeling and upgrading was sorely needed). This system works fine for us since I am a platinum Wyndham owner and get lots of value for the points through the cancel/rebook procedure.

This last summer I noticed several last minute get-aways on the GPX (Grand Pacific Exchange) site at Boyne Mountain Blue-Green resort here in Michigan and booked a week corresponding to one of my wife's conferences (whole week was less than 2 nights at the main resort). The booking procedure was seamless and went well. I was even surprised that I was already in their system because of my ownership at the Makai Club.

I get a periodic newsletter from the Club and certainly the BOD is much more satisfied with the Grand Pacific organization than they were with the Wyndham management they previously had. They tout the better maintenance and upgrading that is now in process. Their present concern is the apparent attempt by Wyndham to get a place on the BOD - Wyndham still retains a large block of voting rights. I hope this will not be a future concern at your resort too.

Thanks, Jim. That helps. So you got an account and ability to take a reservation from the internal exchange system. Nice! And the BOD thing - Wyndham owns a lot of weeks at KBV too. I wonder how it'll all work out.

Anybody else have more to offer about all this?
