We are back on Maui for the first time in six years. A new thing for us is the food truck parks that are located in several places around the island. These may have been around pre_COVID, so not completely new. Just new to us, and I don't recall much discussion of them previously at TUG

We visited the park in Ka'anapali (on Lower Honapillani Drive, next to the Hilton Ka'anapali Beach resort) and the one near Kahului Airport (across Haleakala Highway from Costco). I believe there are others in Kihei and Hana.

The food truck parks we visited are wonderful. The one in Ka'anapali had about eight trucks, with offerings of Asian Food, burgers, loaded fries, Mexican food, Filipino food, sweets, BBQ. The units at Hilton Ka'anapali Beach have only a minimum kitchenette (more hotel suite than condo), so at dinner time there is a steady stream of people heading to the food trucks from the resort. I had Korean sesame chicken. DW had shrimp tacos.

At Kahului, we stopped there for dinner before dropping our son at OGG for a redeye flight back to the mainland. This was a great idea, as he was able to get a good pre-flight meal, to tide them over until hitting the mainland. The Kahalui courtyard is a bit bigger than Ka'anapali - there were probably a dozen trucks operating there.

Here's a guide that probably has more complete information:

There is a single food truck inside Whaler's Village, Da Nani Pirates that is also really good.

Personally I think the "Food Truck Parks" are just a thing now. I live in SWFL and I know of a couple that are in this area. Some more sophisticated, like with an indoor area for bar drinks and clean restrooms. along with the outdoor Al Fresco dining feel, with picnic tables and a small playground for kids and cornhole.

We went to that food truck park, and when we parked and got out of the car, the whole area smelled like grease and cooking oil. No problem for me, but my wife is the princess and the pea and didn't want to smell like oil, so we packed up and foraged elsewhere. Food looked good though, I did a walkthrough before we left!

Unfortunately, when I went to the one is Ka'anapali, the truck selling malasadas was closed.

We have been going to Waikiki the last few years and haven't been to Maui for maybe four years. There use to be a couple of food trucks parked along the side road next to the Worldmark Kihei that were really good. One was Asian food and the other was Hawaiian food. We usually ate in our room or by the pool because the beach is bring your own chair.

There were food trucks by Hilton Kaanapali back in 2018. We got some great rolled ice cream.

There are lots of single food trucks throughout the island. I think that it's neat to have a bunch of trucks in one location, so that there are more choices at one location.

DW said that she had read that the food trucks are providing employment for some of the cooks at restaurants that burned during the Lahaina fire last year.

I used the one by the Marriott Courtyard often when I was working. I always stayed at that hotel and having the food trucks there was very convenient.

We went there in April and loved the Thai food truck. The chicken wings place was just OK.
