For those of you who own at any of the Florida Club (MOI) resorts, Grande Vista - MGV, Legends Edge - MLE, Ocean Pointe - MPB, Villas of Doral - MVD, or BeachPlace Towers - MBP, here are the different unit numbers (types) to type in when doing an imitation search online on II’s website. You will have to enter a phony reservation number as well. Just make sure that it an eight digit number beginning with 8.

Resort: unit number / type
MGV: TOVI, THMV, THVI,
MLE: TOVI
MPB: ZZAA, THMV, OVTM
MVD: TOVI
MBP: ZZAB, TOGV, TOMV

:D

Please clarify what each of the unit letters stand for. thanks.

Thanks so much - I usually get 'stuck' with these!

For Marriott Grande Vista I have always used.
zzaa two bedroom
tomv one bedroom (master villa)
togv lockoff (guest villa)

For Ocean Pointe
zzaa two bedroom
ovtm one bedroom
ovtg lockoff

This would be helpful if II had my resort as the FC in their system. They have me down as MGV. A call to them was of no use. So alas I can not test the trade waters of the other FC properties.

Call your 'vacation advocate.advisor' at MVCI and ask then to intervene on your behalf.
There is no reason your ownership should no be listed correctly with II.

Did I not read hear on Tug before that some of the units at MGV were not part of the Florida Club? Are those the units designated as MGR vs MGV?

As I understand it the MGR codes are the units designated in the Florida Club, though I don't know for sure. I have confirmed with Marriott and through paying my MF that my unit is part of the Florida Club.

I will give this a try, I don't have one assigned to me since I bought resale, but I will request one.

Add THVM as the 2 bedroom master suite of the 3 bedroom LO unit. Unless they reassign to a standard two bedroom LO unit, the THVM would be an ocean front unit rather than an ocean view unit which is the OVTM designation.

Or THVM is the 6/6 sleeping configuration of the 2 bedroom unit while OVTM is the 6/8 sleeping configuration

You are correct!
My Florida Club does not have MGV at Grande Vista as an option, it does have MGR.
Thanks for the correction.

Okay I give up! We own Grande Vista and are a member of the Florida Club, but haven't tried to trade in other than the typical II route, just to check to see what I could pull. So I went on II but could not figure out how to do what you're suggesting? Where do I begin?

Thanks in advance!

Diane,
When you log in to II and see your resorts, what do you see?

I see:
Accomodation Certificate #xxxxxxx
Marriott's Florda Club • MOI
Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club • MAW
The Christie Lodge • TCL

After I choose 2008 or 2009 MOI as my deposit,
the next screen looks like this:
Marriott's Grande Vista Resort • MGR
Marriott's Legends Edge at Bay Point • MLE
Marriott's Ocean Pointe • MPB
Marriott's Villas at Doral • MVD
Marriott's BeachPlace Towers • MBP

This is where you enter your Reservation No., Uniit No., Bedrooms, and Check-in Date.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Thinze! This helps immensely! I asked an II-Marriott rep about this once and they could not explain the Florida club exchange option for me. One more tool to play with! Yippee!! :cheer:

Okay, I'm back after trying it. I'm not sure I get the benefit of using the Florida club vs. my Grande Vista option. I tried hypothetically exchanging an Ocean Pointe (which I don't own) and saw I could get some Disney resorts in Orlando. I'm not able to do that with my Grande Vista. But what's the point, I don't own Ocean Pointe so I can't reserve and exchange the week. Is this feature only beneficial for those who own multiple Florida Marriott resorts?

The benefit is that you can reserve any of the Florida Club properties using the Florida Club at 6 months out and then deposit that resort in to II for the trade. As an example, you don't need to own at BPT to reserve there if you own at MGV. You just reserve it through the FC at 6 months out.

Just to clarify, at 6 months out, say it would be July 17 six months from now, I could reserve a unit at the Ocean Point for that week in July and use that to exchange for something else after depositing into II? Can I lock off my 2 bedroom lock off first? And then deposit it?

Who knew? They blow by this so fast when you are "sold" that you can't retain it all. Thank goodness for TUG!

Thanks!

Hi Diane.

Yes, you can lock-off and deposit with II. In fact that's what we've been doing for the past several years. We own a silver week at MLE which are all 2BR's. At 6 mops. out we exchange for MOP, lock -offf and deposit both sides with II. For the past several years we've also gotten an AC from II. Because we are very flexible in our vaacation times, our silver MLE week has gotten us into other Hawaii in Jan., Aruba in Mar., Cancun in Apr., Key West in the summer and Hilton Head in Sept.

So did you have to reserve a silver week at MOP? We're gold at MGV/R. This seems like a heck of an advantage because it seems I could pull some things trading an MOP, like Disney, which I could not just with MGV/R. Is this what the rest of you experience?

Diane,
That's why were all here on Tug - to learn from each other!!

If you own Gold at MGR you can book only Gold at another Florida Club resort. You must stay within the season you own. Great news for you, as Ocean Pointe (MPB) is Gold in the summer.

So if you still had your unused 2008 MGR week today, you could call Marriott and try to book any MPB room through July 20, 2008. This is true as I beleive MPB offers Thursday check-in.

If you get a 2BR, you can lock it off and deposits both halves with II.

:D

Added:
It appears that II is NOT giving AC's for summer weeks at MPB. I just tested it.

One of the limitations in our strategy of buying a silver week at MLE is Ocean Point is the only Fla club property that has silver weeks and lock-offs. We are limited to exchanging for May or Septemeber into MOP and locking-off.

That being said, we have been able to get some great exchanges with the MOP 1BR and STD silver week.

Are there any restrictions on the Florida Club for owners who buy resale (not through Marriott)? I thought I read that somewhere. This sounds like a great option, but I would only buy resale.

NO - absolutely not!

:D

season ?

can you exchange within the Florida Club and downgrade on the season
i.e. platinum to gold or gold to silver or does it have to be like for like?

Thanks

It is my understanding that you must stay within your season.
For instance, since I own MLE Platinum, I cannot book a summer Gold unit at Ocean Pointe.

Unfortunatly this is a limitation of the club. You can only book within your season. So if you own a Silver week your resorts are more limited. Personally I think if you are limited to booking 6 months out you should be able to book any season (up or down). You are already going to get shoulder or off season when booking 6 months out and they really aren't limiting the reservability of owners since they can book at 12 months.
