Hi there. I feel dumb. Many questions.

When you are going to Morritt's Grand, what airport do you fly into? Is it Cayman Brac? Is that on the same island as Morritt's Grand?

Also, if you're flying from the NYC area and any of the NYC airports would be fine (although Newark would be my first choice)...are there any nonstop flights? Or are there any direct flights that make one stop but it's the same plane?

Or is it better to get a cheap fare to somewhere in Florida, say, and then bounce out to the Cayman Islands the next day? Are there nonstop flights from anywhere in Florida?

So puzzled. Can you tell we don't usually go to the islands? Thanks for any help!

Wacky, you wouldn't be flying into the Brac. The Brac is a smaller one of the Cayman Islands, and you're going to Grand Cayman. You want flights that go into GCM (airport abbreviation.)

The way I usually start an airfare search to see who has the best flights is to hit one of the general websites that handles many airlines, such as Travelocity, Expedia, Qixo, etc. You'll see who has the flights that you like the best, with the fewest stops.

I don't have any experience with flying from NYC, but most of the above websites have an option you can check to allow for searches from all the surrounding area airports so that you can see what works best for you.

Bon voyage!

Sorry - forgot to answer about nonstops from FL. Both Cayman Airways and American have nonstops from MIA (Miami.)

Oh ho. Thank you. It's weird, Kayak doesn't show Grand Cayman as an option at all if you type Cayman Islands--just offers you Cayman Brac. If you type Grand Cayman, you get Grand Cayman.

This trip is for summer 2008, so I have time to hunt. Any advice appreciated on what I'm hunting for!!!

Okay, this is more like it. Continental has nonstop flights to GCM from Newark. $594 RT. That's for July 2007. Is that a good price? It seems pretty good. I think last time I hunted, a few months ago, the fares were up in the seven-something range.

Now I just have to chill for a few months....

Thanks, Phil! That gives me something to shoot for. I'm wondering if the $700 fare was to the little, wrong airport....

I got a flight from the west coast for $625 RT the end of this month. I would think it should be much cheaper from NYC since it's a much shorter distance.
