Hi we own 2Bedroom 148,100 points at Kaanapali North. We were offered flex buy for there that gets us up to executive level. We tend to split 1b and studio to extend stay. Flex would make it easier to extend and start vacation midweek. our 2 bedroom is every year, the flex would be every other year.
Questions:
1-Are Flex available on secondary.
2- Any red flags to buying them?
3- Secondary market have additional limitations?

any and all advice is welcome

If your 2 bedroom is a deeded week, do not give that up for flex. at least the deeded week has SOME resale value, whereas Flex does not. Plus the different pool of inventory will get you the less desirable rooms, depending on the view associated with your ownership. just sayin'

You can buy Flex on the resale market very cheap. Look at RedWeek. In April I bought 81,000 Westin Flex for $4,000. Resale Flex is deemed to be “Voluntary” so it doesn't have all the same privileges as Flex purchased from the developer. These can be used for any Westin US resort within 12 months. You can also split them up ie: use 37,000 on one booking and 44,000 on another. They can not be banked and must be used in the use year. They can not be converted to Club Points in Abound. That being said, in April I bought 37,000 Westin Flex while staying at Kaanapali and part of that deal enabled me to fully retro/requalify the 81,000 resale Flex so it has full privileges including conversion to Club Points in Abound.

Definitely look at resale Mandatory Staroptions, Redweek has listings for $15,000 for 148,000 Mandatory SO's at Kierland. I wouldn't buy anything else. $15K is a bargain for that many SO's with lower MF's than Westin.

Good luck to you!
