We are looking to use a five night travel package hotel portion in Nashville area this fall. There are a lot of options in that area so would love to have feedback and suggestions from those of you that have been there. Currently the certificate is for a category 5 hotel but i would be willing to upgrade to a higher category.

Nashville is a great destination with plenty to do. The Gaylord is a fabulous hotel that sits adjacent to the Grande Ole Opry and General Jackson Showboat (for dinner cruising), especially at Christmastime.

Nashville is a great city. I don't think of it as a typical vacation destination like the beach or mountains, but we do in fact love to go there for long weekends every few years. We like 4-5 nights. For our very first trip to Nashville, knowing nothing about accommodation options, we stayed a night at a downtown "luxury hotel" on someone's recommendation. Another family we knew was also in Nashville. We met them at the Gaylord for dinner together (wasn't yet a Marriott hotel), and it was so overwhelmingly gorgeous and fun that we immediately cancelled our downtown hotel stay and moved over to the Gaylord. That was about 15 years ago, and since that time we've been back
to the Gaylord 5-6 times. We would never stay anywhere else.

Most of our trips were during Thanksgiving, and the hotel is always beautifully decorated for Christmas, and having the outlet mall next door makes it really special. Our kids loved it. Their Thanksgiving feast in the Grand Ballroom is amazing. The hotel is like a city covered by glass (the atria are gorgeous). We absolutely get lost in there every time! There's also a very nice movie theater at the mall, and we always enjoyed seeing several movies during those stays----the big holiday movie releases always made it great.

If you go to Nashville, I highly recommend the Gaylord, whatever it costs in upgrade......you'll enjoy it, and the rooms are great, albeit small compared to timeshare stays (obviously). Our favorite section, or atrium, is the Delta atrium, high level room WITH BALCONY.
Doesn't get any better than that. It's pricey, but we never leave without having had a fantastic time.

Well, I 'm happy to be the antagonist. I've stayed all over Nashville including the Gaylord (for business only). I would suggest that you stay very near the central city and within walking/short Lyft to the honky-tonks, Ryman Auditorium, the State Capital Mall, Country Music Hall of Fame, Music Row, Printer's Alley, Vanderbilt, the original Hot Chicken restaurants, etc. where all are there. That's Nashville.

One of life's greatest simple pleasures is walking along Broadway near 2nd Avenue and dropping into the honky-tonks. In the outer-areas of downtown, there are a lot of great little villages you would want to visit. Small pockets of live music venues and great local foods including the hot chicken dishes.

There are three or four Marriott options downtown with another three or four options closer to West End/Vanderbilt area (and a quick search shows a JW Marriott opening in downtown Nashville this month). We've stayed at the Renaissance (3-4 times), the Courtyard West End, and the Marriott Vanderbilt. The relatively new Residence Inn and Spring Hill Suites are near the West End area and they could be Cat 5 or close. Not sure.

The Gaylord Nashville is well outside downtown Nashville and was originally built as the Opryland Hotel with an adjacent shopping mall, amusement park, and the New Grand Ole Opry.
