It's our first time except for a one-day stopover a few years ago. We're not interested in Waikiki, but in staying someplace else on the island. I've read about the west and north coasts, but don't know much about the northeast side. We're going at the end of June.

Snorkeling is pretty important -- the best places for us are ones where we can snorkel pretty easily every morning, preferably without driving far (if at all).

We're intending to rent something from vrbo or equivalent, and need to get this finalized. Where would you suggest? Mahalo.

If you've never been there I'd suggest an all day trip with Roberts of Hawaii to see Oahu. Amazing how much you can see from the seats of a big bus and how relaxing it is. Be sure and rent the video TORA, Tora, Tora before you go. Trip will mean much more.
