First trip to Maui - resort choice?

We have been offered a one bedroom at the Gardens of West Maui. This would be our first trip to Maui and am wondering if this is a good choice. We prefer smaller resorts and basic is fine (I have read the reviews). I am just wondering if it is a good base for activities location wise? DD will want to go everywhere and see everthing.

Our favorite on Kauai is the Shearwater and exploring from there is no problem (Just interested in prespective to activities on Maui)

Even though we have never stayed at the Gardens of West Maui, we have looked at the units, and think you will be happy there. It is NOT on the beach, so no ocean view, but is close to most things.

I know "I" would take it anytime.

The only thing to note is there is a large collection of roosters next door.

Exchangers often are placed into building one, which is the closest to the roosters. Consolidated won't tell you which building/unit you are in until you check in.

I really liked this resort. It's a very short walk to some very nice beaches and the units are well equiped. We were so happy that we purchased a unit late last year when the opportunity arrose. We are slated to return in November.
