How do I search for resorts within RCI that are pet friendly? Thanks

Thanks. Where did you find it? We had been to one in MA and I was looking to see if they still were. They are not listed

Bing searched for "pet friendly RCI Resorts" :)

Just because they are not listed doesn't mean they aren't pet friendly. The best bet would be to call a resort you are looking at.

The page isn't dated, and none of the resort links work, so I can't honestly tell you whether that list is valid or not. At least it can give you some resort names to can and verify.

Best way to find out is contact the resort you may be interested in and ask if they are pet friendly. some resorts have changed their policy due to problems with the owners. Usually not the pet's fault. Silverleaf resorts used to allow pets, now they do not. What area are you looking at?

We stayed at a resort in Great Barrington, VT. It was pet friendly at the time several years ago. Can't remember the name off hand but found it on RCI. It did not say anything about pets. It had hundreds of available weeks.

Great Barrington, MA? The Oak and Spruce in the Berkshire Mountains used to allow pets, but not anymore. I also checked with Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort, they no longer allow pets either. The list has not been updated in years! It is best to check with the resort. One of my timeshares The Pines in Virginia allows pets!

Hi Ann-Marie,

Look up above at the Red Tool Bar and click on "TUG Home"

Now, in the upper panel on the Milk Bottle - Click on "Search Tug"

In the Box that opens type in "Pet Friendly Timeshares" and click on "Search"
or hit the "Enter" key on your keyboard

there are several previous Tug Threads on Pets that will be helpful to you. Don't discount that some may be several years old - I'm sure there are some Tuggers who would volunteer to update the lists.

When doing a search, choose the area, then choose Resort Amenities. Pets Allowed is one of the Amenities that you can check. I was looking at Extra Vacations and chose Rocky Mountains and 5 resorts with lots of check in dates came up. There are 31 RCI resorts in the USA that allow pets.

Maybe our Cocker spaniel will get to go somewhere. :)

I've been telling my now 6 year old for the last several years that our ShiPoo gets to go to a doggie hotel where she can sing, dance, and play games with other dogs. I think she is getting to the age where she doesn't believe the hype anymore LOL.

I can understand the resistance to allowing dogs in timeshares. Who wants to check into a room with "dog spots" on the carpets? And don't tell me it can't happen. Much less a stressed dog away from home barking at every imagined threat and what that does to neighbors.

It's frustrating using RCI in finding pet friendly resorts. Our first year booking, we called looking for a pet-friendly ski resort over Christmas and was offered Berkshire Mountain Lodge. If you do a search on RCI for pet-friendly in New England, this resort does not show up. This is why using RCI search for pet-friendly is not up to date, so I assume there may be other resorts out there that are pet friendly but don't show up in the search results.

Anyway, to the OP, the Berkshire Mountain Lodge (Boquet Ski Resort) and Vacation Village in the Berkshires (Jiminy Creek) are both pet-friendly, albeit at $125 cleaning fee. Both of these resort don't come up under 'pet friendly' though. Frustrating.

Thanks everyone. It is Vacation Village in the Berkshires. I tried to look under amenities and "pet Friendly" did not show up. I say leave the dog in daycare. My daughter in law does not understand!

My dog doesn't like doggie day care AT ALL. We tried it once for a week, she was climbing the walls! If we travel by plane, I ask relatives to dog sit. If we are driving, and it's usually a long weekend, we try to find pet-friendly resorts. There should be more pet-friendly resorts, they set aside rooms so someone who arrives without a pet won't be assigned the pet friendly room - so no worries from you non-pet-loving-vacationers that the carpet is soiled.

don't tell me that leaky diapers don't happen.

mine doesn't do well in doggie day care either, she "goes to camp" with dogsitter or dogsitter stays at my house. Before Silverleaf changed rules, we made it to many of them w/ pooch in tow.
