Hello all,

I understand that in the grand scheme of things that the resort doesn't *really* matter with FF since you can use the points at any FF. We aren't the type that plan 13 months in advance so ARP is not an issue for us. We also aren't set on a particular resort as a place where we want to visit again and again. (Although I know we may need to take that into consideration.)

Can you tell me if, in relation to RCI (which is what we would mainly be using our FF points for), it matters WHAT resort at which you purchase your points?

Thanks much!

Tracy

Hee hee, thanks! So that clarifies that whether my deed is at Bonnet Creek or Branson, they are both 100% equal in the eyes of depositing points into RCI?

Tracy,

We were sold on FF after staying at Bonnet Creek/Ocean Walk a couple months ago, but after doing the research we decide to buy pts. at a FF resort with low Maint. fees via the resale market.

NHL,

That is what we are trying to do as well (resale), but I seem to be seeing so many conflicting reports about how "trading power" is determined through RCI for the FF points you would submit. Some posts seem to suggest it matters not where you own, while others say it does.

I am leaning towards the "it does NOT!" determination, but only because that helps my case with the husband. :)

The only reason we would choose the Bonnet Creek resale would be the "buy where you want to stay" philosophy. Right now we actually live 30 minutes from Disney but someday we may not. We already own DVC, but got rid of some of those points when we moved. (And of course, DVC doesn't last "forever.") But again, if it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, I guess I need to research maintenance fees.

Thanks for the help!

Tracy

The trading power does not has affect. Currently, FF will not allow you to give out a week you choices to RCI to do search. They will give you something from a big pool. So what your home resort is does make no difference. However, there is another restriction when you do RCI match. It is called VEP (Vacation Experience Profile???) that is assigned to the 1st resort you purchased. You can do search on that in this form. Basically, it will try to give you a range of resorts when doing search that match around your home resort level. If you have too good a VEP, you will not see a lot of so call lower level resorts. It is like if you own 5 star hotel, they will not give you anything less than 4 star hotel (although in reality that always happen). If you own 4 star, you will get anything from 3 star above ...

You might be seeing some conflicting information because it *used to* matter (or, at least, it *could*), but per a policy change last summer, it doesn't matter any more.

I've moved this thread to the Wyndham forum.

Thank you Bill!

I wonder why I didn't even see this forum in my choices until now? Before I only had the "timesharing" ones.

Glad to be in the right place now!
