We've visited many of the Marriott resorts in the U.S. through our ownership, but I'm looking for suggestions for other really nice resorts that we might try either on a Getaway or via a trade. You know, a place that feels like a Marriott but isn't a Marriott. Open to suggestions for resorts anywhere in the U.S. Thanks!

We stay mostly at MVC properties but When we vacationed in Sedona we stayed at the Hyatt Pinion Pointe a few years back…2BR 2BA unit was very very nice and the location can’t be beat..We had a beautiful view of Cathedral Rock…the only downside could be the unit you get..not all units have great views..when exchanging thru II the unit # is on is on the confirmation certificate..we were very lucky…highly recommend Hyatt Pinion Pointe.

So, must feel like a Marriott then. We like resorts that don’t feel like a Marriott sometimes, specifically timeshares where you have your own building / house. I’ll have to review our trip list to see if we’ve stayed at any Marriott similar in US other than say Vistana.

I looked, not within US, excluding Vistana.

Sheraton, Westin and Hyatt are probably going to get you the most Marriott like experience.

I agree with the others that Sheraton, Westin, and Hyatt will give you a similar experience to Marriott.

The Grand Lodge on Peak 7 in Breckenridge, CO is similar in standards to those as well as the Grand Colorado on Peak 8.

I'd love to hear about any other hidden gems (those aren't really hidden gems, but they aren't affiliated with a large system).

We like Marriott because you generally know what you're going to get. With COVID availability the last couple years, we were able to trade into Westin and Four Seasons, both of where were very nice.

We enjoy the Marriott quality and feel. Some people are very resort oriented, some mainly location oriented though I think most are somewhere in between. I'm presuming that you fall more on the resort orientation side. Obviously Westin & Hyatt as mentioned and some of the Sheraton properties. There are the Ritz and Four Seasons. MX has some very nice properties. There's DVC of course and many of the Hilton properties are a good choice. We also enjoy many of the Bluegreen properties even though the ones we like are different and below certain Marriott standards in some ways. We especially like the Charleston, Gatlinburg and Savannah options. Bluegreen's premier properties are in the Branson area, esp the ones on Table Rock lake. Some of the Wyndham resorts are very nice as well. Granted many of these are in RCI and not in II. I'd add St. James Plan Beaver Creek and a a few of the Welk Resorts.

Maybe it's a good time to come up with a list of 15-20 and put in a request for the time you want and let the God's decide. Also, the review section of the TUG membership has ratings with rankings for II, RCI and many of the mini systems. If you haven't joined TUG, you should, it's money well spent. One thing to keep in mind is that some nice resorts also come with a timeshare underbelly that is far lower than MVC. Westgate comes to mind but others can be aggravating as well, what was it John Chase used to say, "Westgate, if you want the worst, we're the best"? At some resorts you might literally have to unplug the phone to get them to leave you alone.

We really enjoyed our private cabin in the woods at Westgate in Branson. Have not done any of the other ones though. We always like having our own building!

We always unplug the phone, in the bedroom, at every resort we go to.

I'd be curious to read your list of individual building properties that you liked. We enjoy that too. No worries about someone making noise above us.

I can only recall two that we've visited, both in Branson. A number of years ago, and before Interval introduced upgrade fees, we lucked into a 4BR at Stormy Point Village. The other was Cabins at Green Mountain.

Stormy Point is indeed one. Westgate Branson Woods. Kings Creek in Williamsburg. Marriott Momi Bay over water bure (Fiji), not really a timeshare but may as well be. Really so far that's it for us. Funny thing is, really didn't know in advance about any of them but they have a unique appeal for us. Wish I knew more!

Westgate Smoky Mountains is a great resort. Lots of amenities and the location is awesome as well.

It was actually how I discovered timeshares and TUG a few years ago! Booked one of those $99 4-day stays that required a presentation and got suckered into buying. Luckily I found TUG in time and was able to rescind!! But since then timeshares have absolutely changed the way we travel and completely spoiled us!!

Thanks everyone. I should have been more specific....yes hidden gems is exactly what I'm looking for. Anyone find anything in the Orlando area (other than the Marriotts)?

I have heard from other TUGGERS that Diamond (now HGV) Mystic Dunes in Orlando is nice. Still in II but may change to RCI or DEX or ? with the HGVC takeover. YMMV as I have not stayed there so cannot personally vouch for it.
