I'm a member of Exotic Travelers. Plus I owned a traditional timeshare (Sea Garden, Pompano Beach, FL) from 1993 - 2007. So I'm familiar with both concepts.
Any traditional timeshare owner that trades through RCI for an all-inclusive resort, has to pay the all-inclusive fees. Same for us owners.
Now move on with ET. Karisma Resorts is who owns Exotic Travelers. When we go to one of our "home" resorts, we still have to pay the AI fee....but at a discounted rate (30%) over non members. Plus there are other perks. And they are always running specials. I'm going to a very luxurious Karisma resort this November and got a 65% AI discount over non-members.
I can also bank a week at RCI and trade anywhere just like any other "regular" timeshare owner can.
What sold me on trading my Sea Garden weeks for ET is this:
Sea Garden maintenance fees for the 2 weeks I owned were about $1500 per year. I figured I have at least 30 more years. That's' $45,000.
I traded my ownership there plus some cash (not even close to $45,000) for 144 weeks ownership in ET. 30 years at Sea Garden is only 60 weeks.
There are NO maintenance fees with ET. That was the main deal-maker for me. I never have to pay a maintenance fee. And if I die with weeks left over, my kids inherit them.
I have never regretted my switch to ET and LOVE their resorts. Yes, they are high end all-inclusive, but I've never had more luxurious vacations in my life.
I have posted reviews of one of their resorts here: El Dorado Royale and Casitas Royale. They are on the same property and kind of together but separate. lol...clear as mud?
I'm more than happy to answer any questions about ET.
