We Just Got Back From Sedona Which Was A Trade From 2005. It Was Clean And Nice. Definitely Not A Starwood Caliber. But We Had Fun.

How long does it take to drive from Scottsdale to Sedona? I'd like to do a day trip there if we stay at Kierland one day but I don't have a good sense of how long of a trip it is. What would be the best time of year to visit Sedona?

I seem to remember it being about a 2.0 hour drive from Kierland, but its been 3 years since I've been to Kierland.

Its a long road, up hill, until you get to the Sedona exit. I remember taking the exit heading to Sedona thinking this is no big dea. Then going around a bend and "Bam" ..... there were the red rocks! Wow, what spectacular scenery! We have nothing like that in Maryland.

Thanks everyone! I"ve been away from email for a few days so I couldn't respond earlier. I'll put Sedona on my to-do list for my next trip to Kierland!

Not in winter-time Sedona is about 6000 ft above sea level - it gets cold in the winter-time (including late fall and early-spring) - it is beautiful there in the summer - while Scottsdale will be over 100.

The south rim of the Grand Canyon is also doable, but a longer drive.

Sedona does get a bit toasty during the summer:

Month Avg High Avg Low
June 93 58
July 97 64
August 94 63
