Hello again,

I think my last post regarding exchanging RCI points was incorrect. I just read that FF pts and RCI pts are two different things. Sorry for the confusion.

Could someone please explain how I would go about exchanging my FF pts with RCI? Can this be done online? Is the transaction pts for pts or will my FF pts be converted into a week?

For example: I deposit 50k FF pts into RCI. I want to request a 1br in Aruba. How will this transaction pan out?

Thanks again!
Michelle

When you exchange FF points with RCI they convert to weeks. It currently takes the following points to make an exchange into RCI. I believe you can do it online.

RCI Red Studio 70K
RCI Red 1 BR 105K
RCI Red 2 BR 154K
RCI Red 3 BR 254K

RCI White Studio 42K
RCI White 1 BR 77K
RCI White 2 BR 126K
RCI White 3 BR 189K

RCI Blue Studio 28K
RCI Blue 1 BR 63K
RCI Blue 2 BR 77K
RCI Blue 3 BR 154K

Sometimes it can be done online (sort of)

If you want to exchange FSP points for an RCI Week and do so online, you have to specifically ask Fairfield to deposit a week that can be used for online trading. You can do so by calling or, I think, by submitting an online form from the Fairfield site. The default is to deposit a generic set of points that you can exchange by calling RCI.

Sometimes (often?) Fairfield does not have any online "visible" weeks available and they deposit the generic points instead, without checking with you to see if that is OK.

Try search first

If you want a 1 BR in Aruba, you may be best off trying "search first."

You call Fairfield and tell them where you want to go. They arrange a 3-way conversation with RCI. FF makes a "temporary" deposit of a recommended number of points into your RCI account. The RCI guide checks to see if that deposit will pull what you want. If it doesn't, you can either make the temporary deposit permanent and start an ongoing search, or you can ask them to try again with more points (if you have them). If it does pull what you want, you can ask them to try with a smaller points deposit. This way you can determine the minimum number of points needed to pull what you want.

It helps to be very flexible about your travel dates or destination.

Plus Partners

If you have PlusPartners (and you would if you bought from FF recently) you can use FF points to reserve at RCI points resorts. Same points chart as shown above, but trading power doesn't come into play, just availability.

What is Plus Partners? If I have this, I would just contact RCI and book the week if it is available? No searching needed for RCI points?

PlusPartners is an additional benefit that some FSP members have. It is usually included in recent purchases from FF and can be added to an account for a fee (about $2400). It gives you the right to exchange FF points for nightly stays at RCI points resorts and also to use FSP points for hotels, airfare, car rental, theme park tickets. A fee is charged for each reservation. Use of FSP points for airfare, hotels, etc. is not usually a good deal.; you'd spend less money using cash.

You wouldn't call RCI to use PlusPartners. You'd call Fairfield and they would transfer you.

Since this thread is all about FF, I'm moving it to the FF (wyndham) board.
