I was able to exchange into Marriott Maui Ocean club 1 bedroom 2 bath for december 2010. My confirmation is for MMO, OBOV 1 bedroom. Does this mean the older part of maui ocean club? what does OBOV mean? ocean view? I call II and was told there is no guarantee on view and that I can call the resort with requests. So, what part of MMO should I request? when should I call? If my unit is for older part of MMO, there is only limited kichen with no stove, correct? thanks

MMO is the code for the converted hotel. These units are called suites by Marriott and don't have a full kitchen. You'll have a microwave, dishwasher, sink & small fridge.

MM1 is the code for the two newer towers. Marriott calls these villas and they (except the studios) do have full kitchens.

I'm not sure what OBOV stands for, possibly one bedroom, ocean view? You can check your confirmation online (if you have a Marriott rewards account) and it will show the room type. But you are not guaranteed this type of room once you check in. Marriott can place you in any of the 1 bedroom units.

Once you get your II confirmation look for the 8 digit reservation number that starts with an 8 or 9. You can then search for the reservation online with your last name. It takes a day or two to get into Marriott's system with the your name on it. In the meantime you can call Marriott res and ask them to look up the reservation number and tell you what type of room you have.

thanks you very much for your input. I check at the marriott reservation system which mentions this reservation is platinum oceanview. Are there different type of oceanview rooms? Is there a parking fee at MMO? how much is the occupancy tax for the week? Does this property has shuttle bus to Whaler's village?

How far is MMO to Westin villa (WKORN) where my conference is located at? I have requested both marriott and westin, and got my confirmation at MMO less than 2 weeks. I was surprised at how fast I got my confirmation as the week I requested is for christmas 2010. So even though I got the older part of MMO, I am still very happy, esp since it looks like I will get an oceanview room.

Whaler's Village is just a stroll down the boardwalk - no shuttle required.

Are you sure your conference is at WKORV? The TS? Or is it at the Westin Maui - the hotel - also just a stroll down the boardwalk from the Marriott.

Marriott charges for daily parking, I don't recall the specific amount. Are you a Marriott owner? If so they will waive the parking charge. They don't charge owners of any Marriott timeshares. Call the property and ask them how much they charge for parking. I think it is $6 per day for self-parking, $12 for valet.

I'm not sure of the occupancy tax for a 1 bedroom. It's likely around $9 per night. (I recently paid $12+ for a 2 bedroom at WKORV).

You can walk from the Marriott to WKORV but it's a bit long if you're headed to a conference and have things to carry. I'd suggest you plan on renting a car and driving to/from the conference meetings.

My small conference is at WKORV (the westin timeshare) building 4. I have hope to book a week at WKORV using my staroptions but was told no because week 51 is an event week.

I definitely will rent a car for the week. It is just too hard traveling around with a 5 year old without a car. I was hoping that if they are next door to each other, I can just walk over some of the days. Given that is a christmas week, when should I start looking for a car rental? The weekly rental prices for 12/10 are about the same at hotwire and expedia right now.

I am not a marriott owner so I guess I have to pay for the daily parking fee. $6 is not too bad; it was higher at the hotel I stayed at 2 years ago but it would have been great if it is free.

With signals and traffic, WKORV is about a 5 minute drive from MMO. The valet is pretty quick, but for twice the money, the parking structure is not far at all from the suites. I think since the conference is Christmas week, I would start looking for a car soon and then hit Priceline a week or so before you go.

It is probably a 45 min. walk from the Marriott to WKORV along the beach path - fun to do for a stroll, but probably not practical to do for daily meetings.

You should reserve a car now - car reservations are cancelable with no penalty. Lock in the best price you can find and then check frequently for a better price. The holidays are busy in Hawaii and prices are more likely to go up, than down, so I wouldn't wait.

Weeks 51 & 52 at WKORV were sold as event weeks at a steep premium, and only owners can reserve them.

The state of Hawaii imposes an occupancy tax on all timeshare units. You pay it whether you are an owner or exchanger. It varies in amount based on the size and valuation of the unit. It is charged per night, not per person.

Your OBOV is an Ocean View. They are very good at giving you the view you exchanged into as you receive what the owner who deposited owned. You may get a lower floor that does restrict your view, but you won't have a mountain view. Call MMO, ask for the front desk and request a view over looking the main pool and on a high floor. That is the best view you can get and you never can tell what the room assignment folks may give you.

I just returned from MMO and was charged $0.80 per day for Villa Tax and $12.00 per day for valet parking. EVERYONE pays for valet parking, owners included. Owners and exchangers receive free self park in the parking garage. I didn't ask for parking for renters, they may be $6.00 per day in the garage.

The Westin Hotel, 3 minute walk from MMO, has a free shuttle to WKORV, but I'm not sure if you can take it since you aren't staying there. It would be worth a phone call to the Westin as you are a "guest" at the conference.

45 minutes are too far to walk in the morning to the conference (not a morning person). I will start looking for car rental.

When should I call MMO to request a view, now or wait till a couple week before arrival? As I will be in big island from 12/11-12/18 and my MMO week is from 12/17-12/24, I likely will not arrive at MMO till 12/18 am. I hope it will not affect the kind of room I will get.

Does MMO has a shuttle to Lahaina town. The free parking lot at Lahaina was often full at night when we were there.

Call the resort one week before arrival to make room requests. Hilo Hatti may have a free shuttle from hotel to Lahaina.
