Hello, I own at Vistana Villages and am an Interval member. I recently was called by II and offered an Abound Vacation to include Disney resorts. I said yeah and put an exchange request in, I was given a confirmation pending Marriott release of points. I explained I was not a Marriott Club member but was told “ no relevant” …after a long painful exchange I was told Disney had an agreement not to exchange w owners locally owned. I requested my exchange fee back. At a timeshare presentation I was told it would cost me 46,000 $ dollars to convert my deeded two bedroom VV to Marriott.
I did not pay, and made peace w losing my Disney reservatIon.
Then they called again. Offered me another Disney week. My question is without being a Marriott Cub Member whocan I exchange with? Marriott owns Interval. I’m very confused.

You can exchange in II for all the resorts that your ownership allow, sorry yes it is that open as your ownership company may generate restrictions.
If you own weeks in the Orlando area, of any brand (including MVC and Sheraton), you can't exchange into any of the DVC Orlando resorts.
It is what it is, and is the same for all owners of weeks for all brands.
If your ownership trades in II for points, then you can exchange them in II for DVC reosorts, even if one of your "home" resorts is in Orlando. As is the case for Sheraton Flex or an MVC, Sheraton or Westin weeks owner electing for Abound club points and then using the points in II to exchange for DVC Orlando.
MVC does not own II, the parent company of MVC, Sheraton and Westin (Marriott Vacations Worldwide) own II.
Its odd for II to do this sort of thing, so best avoid it in future if you didn't initiate the request.

If you want a timeshare that trades into Disney, buy something in a different state, buy resale for pennies on the dollar. For example, we own Marriott's Willow Ridge Lodge, maintenance fees are $1479. I pay $90 to lock it off into two deposits, a one bedroom and a studio. I get two exchanges into Disney resorts, mostly one bedrooms for just the two of us. So II membership, $229 exchange fee to get the Disney resorts. We have Platinum II membership to get upgrades from studio to one bedroom DVC unit, $59.

Two exchanges:

II membership required, platinum membership is not cheap but worth the money.
Marriott's Willow Ridge Lodge 2 bedroom, locked off, $90 fee.

$1479/ 2 = $740 each + $229 for the one bedroom to a one bedroom DVC = $969
The studio = $740 + $229 + $59 upgrade fee= $1,028

Of course, you do have to pay $190 to Disney.

I should have added in the $90 fee to the MF's, but $45 added for each week.

Any Marriott in Palm Desert is more expensive to buy and higher MF's but might even be a bit better for exchange purposes. Even when you buy a lockoff unit at any Palm Desert resort with Marriott, you still have to pay the $90 fee. There are many others that will also work in Marriott.

One of the favorites here on TUG is Sheraton Desert Oasis, harder to find via resale, fees are about $1,400 for a 2 bed lockoff unit, but you don't have to pay $90. You can do exactly the same thing as above, and maybe for a little less money.

Another great option is Sheraton Broadway Plantation 2 bedroom lockoff, fees are $1453. No lockoff fee for these. Great traders. Again, hard to come by. The bigger 2 bedrooms that are designated as 2 bedroom have great trading power and have fees of $1,161.24 for 2023.

Just curious, when you opt in for the room upgrades from a studio to a 1br, how certain are you that you will actually get it?

As an RCI member we have the same option, but rarely the request come through.

II doesn't work the same with upgrades. With II, if you can see the larger unit with what you are exchanging with, you can confirm it by paying the fee. We often exchange studio and 1BR units for 2BR units.

Is your Vistana villages currently part of Abound? If it is, you can convert the unit to Abound Club Points. You can then use those club point to book DVC in Interval. Of course you need to make sure you have enough points to book the room. If you’re short, you can rent more points from an owner

I don't think you can use transferred points for an II exchnage.

Thankyou all for your responses. Tug members continue to help and I will attempt to educate myself on points and different programs. I will also simply rent from DVC members when I do go to Disney or enjoy Vistana .Villages. Disney is close by!
