Ok, I have done some searching and not able to find the answer to this. What is the difference between EY and EOY use years as far as making reservactions. Here is my example

a) 205,000 EOY odd years. Points available 205K. Lets say its May 2009, can I make a reservation for a use in Feb of 2010 using 105K points?
If I use 150k points from 2009, in 2009, can I use the other 55k points in 2010 as well, or would I have to either use them in 2009 and/or pool them?

b) Same example as above, except says its June 2009. I have all 210k need to make a reservation but I need to borrow 50k from 2011. Is that possible? IF not can you borrow at all on an EOY contract since you will never be within 90 days of your next point issuance.

On an regular annual usage contract(Jan issuance, 189k points). Say I make a Mar 09 reservation for a Nov 09 reservation...I use 89K points and still have 100K remaining. At December 09 can I make a reservation to stay June 2010 using those 100k points that I still have for that year...or must all 2009 points be USED in the 2009 year?

difference in points

the EOY points get credited to your account every other year and they are only good for that year - they will expire in december of the year that they are credited. Therefore you would have to make your reservation within the year that they are credited. In other words if I have a EOY contract that is even years for 154,000. I can't use those points for a reservation in 2009 (unless I borrow from the 2010 year). I can call before January of 2009 and bank the points in the credit pool (then good for 3 years) but you can only use those points for 10 month out reservations (even at your home resort).

I don't think you can do the above - I have not tried it but I believe you can only borrow points from the next year - not 2 years out.

The answer to this is NO. The points will not be good for you to make a reservation in June of 2010 because the points you are attempting to use will expire on 2009. The points are only good for that year unless they are deposited into the points credit pool.

So when you go to make a January 2010 reservation at the 10 month mark(March 09), you make that reservation with your 2010 points, even though you may have all of 2009 points still? Thanks for the explanation on the EOY usage.

The use year determines when you can use the points.

An every year use means you can use the points each year.

An every other use year means points can be used every other year.

If non VIP, points must be pooled before their use year begins.

You have introduced the complication of Pooling of points, they can be used for 3 yrs from the date of pooling no matter the use year.

I've skipped over the other specific examples.

if this is a EOY contract and you received the points in 2009 then your stay must be in 2009. They will expire at the end of 2009 unless you banked them before January 1st of 2009 - then they are good for 3 years with only a 10 month reservation. Anytime you receive points they are only good for 12 months - if you have not used them at the end of that 12 month time frame then they will expire. The only option you would have then is to move them into weeks with RCI before they expire and extend the life of them for 2 more years. Once they are with RCI you can not move them back into the Wyndham system.
