In the past two years, I used up the $1500 energy tax credit that was allowed. I know that the energy tax credits have been extended will I be eligible for addition credits or am I just maxed out?

I am looking at purchasing a tankless water heater. Any suggestions on that also?

My understanding is you are maxed out (but I hope I'm wrong as I put in a new central air conditioner this year!)

2011 energy credit

I heard that it is being reduced to a $500.00 credit. Still have not gotten any word whether it is allowed if you maxed the $1500.
Just found this info:
2011 Tax Credit for Energy Efficient Windows and Doors IRS Form 5695

As of December 17, 2010, Congress extended and updated the Tax Credit for installing energy efficient windows and doors for 2011.

NOTE - The tax credit has changed from the $1,500 Tax Credi issued in 2010. Details of the new 2011 tax credit are listed below:

The maximum credit is 10% of the purchase price of energy efficient windows and does not include installation costs.

The tax credit is $200 for windows and $500 for exterior doors.

The maximum credit has a Lifetime Limit. If you have claimed the tax credit in past years, the maximum lifetime cap is $500.

The installed products must be Energy Star® qualified.

The product must be installed by December 31, 2011.
Maybe $500 if you took the $1500 and $700 if you did not.
