Do you get elite night credits if you stay on another owners time but give your bonvoy number?

Yes, you should. The owner shouldn't be the one getting it as the Bonvoy Terms and Condition explicitly state that the Bonvoy member must be staying in order to earn the benefits within the program.

We do.
The Owner needs to use the “Change of Guest Name” process and add your Bonvoy number.
We then always make sure at check in that they have our Bonvoy number linked to the reservation.

Taking the question a step further.

Would you assume any Marriott inventory in RCI was added by an owner? As Marriott probably isn't dumping excess into RCI these days.

If I were to book one of the few Marriotts in RCI as an exchange and add my bonvoy number do you think it would be treated as staying on an owners time as far as ENC treatment is concerned?

As to the first part, it may depend on the resort. For Marriott Vacation Club units in RCI, I would say those are from owner deposits. If they are Sheraton resorts, then they could be developer deposit. Regardless, I don't think it matters and once done through RCI it is no longer really considered staying on another owners reservation in the sense you would when renting from another owner.

However, you should be able to get Bonvoy Elite Night Credit for a booking through RCI. We did this a couple years ago with a reservation made through RCI. I don't think there is really a way to add your Bonvoy number prior ot arrival since RCI doesn't disclose the Marriott.com confirmation number like Interval International does. You can instead just ask the front desk to add your Bonvoy number upon check in. It should work no different when earning ENCs for II exchanges and getaways.

That's what I was thinking, adding the number at check in.
I understand a restriction if I booked an RCI cash rate but as an exchange it seems youre just using that owners deposit / their time etc.

Is Marriott the only hotel that gives hotel night credits for timeshare stays?

Even if a Marriott showed up in RCI Extra Vacations, the same should apply for ENCs. This is how it works with cash getaways in II. The rules around getting ENCs for this are murky. If they don't post automatically, getting Bonvoy to fix it with a missing stay request could be impossible. So make sure your Bonvoy number is added when you check in and confirm it again upon checkout. The resort won't help you after checkout if the ENCs don't post and Bonvoy seems more and more inflexible in posting them via a missing stay request.

As far as I know, Marriott is the only timeshare resort system that provides night credit toward their elite tiers.

Another Marriott question for you.
We've experienced 1 step upgrades as platinum at check in. Was told if we were titanium the hotel could do 2 step upgrades. (Studio to 2 bedroom).

Are you titanium?
Is that your experience?

Upgrades only apply to hotel stays. Per the Bonvoy terms and conditions, upgrades based on Elite status DO NOT apply to Marriott Vacation Club timeshare based stays. They won't upgrade you from a studio to a 1BR. They need to keep you in the same unit size you are confirmed into. Status may play a tiny role in possibly getting a slightly better unit assignment within the unit category/size you are confirmed into.

Oh I should've clarified I'm referring to hotel stays not timeshare.
We stay at hotels during our road trips and visits back home.
Places like residence inn, townplace suites.
We have an almost 2 week stay at a residence inn coming up and wondering about chances of an upgrade if we hit titanium before checking in vs platinum.

Upgrades will vary and are always based on the best available room at checkin. There is no guaranty of an upgrade, even as a Titanium Bonvoy member. Our experience has been mixed. We've had decent success with nightly upgrade awards and been assigned a good room for many stays. Your chance of success is better when on shorter stays. For long stays, if an upgraded room type is fully booked for any one night of your stay, it will make an upgrade to that room type impossible. There probably isn't much difference between Platinum and Titanium.

We occasionally get excellent hotel upgrades for up to 3 nights with Nightly Upgrade Awards, most recently a great suite at the Westin Singapore.
Even when these NUAs are not available though, we regularly get the the high floor and great view that we request.
