Took a virtual sales presentation yesterday for 35,000 points. We said no as we have no intention of buying for the next couple of years.

Took an encore package for $695 which includes 4 days 3 nights at MVC Pulse SF for a guest bedroom (2 queen beds) + 100,000 MB points if we attend a sales presentation. Offer valid for 2 years.

Seems like a good deal right?

Looking a few weeks out, the discounted room rate is about $300 a night, so you are saving about $200 over the 3 nights + you get another presentation.

However, in March you can get 3 nights on a Destination Escape for 180 points, so just over $100 for all 3 nights, with no presentation required.

Thats a fair way to look at it. I believe this comes with no black out dates so i might be able to use this on the July 4th weekend too.

I would check for whether there's an upgrade fee for holiday/peak periods. The Crystal Shores encore package I bought states there's a $149 surcharge for holidays. It's item #2 on the page where I had to initial 13 items.

It isn’t 100,000 Bonvoy IF you attend. The whole deal is based on you attending a presentation.

These can be a good deal unless you buy points when you come back. The conversion rate on these is much higher.

That's right. If you don't attend the sales meeting, you have to pay retail value for the nights.

Depends how much you value the 100k MB points. The price for the nights are not that attractive.

The Points Guy currently values Marriott Bonvoy points at 0.84 cents so 100,000 points is worth about $840 for which you paid $695 and have a 3 night stay. It’s not a horrible value. Just say no in the presentation.

I buy Encore packages regularly, they are usually a pretty good deal so long as you are able to say no if you don't actually want to buy anything.
