Went to a presentation where Encore law could help you get out of your timeshare. it was at a Doubletree food was horrible. They said two Florida bills hb 7025 and hb 453 made it that the timeshare companies could raise the maintenance to whatever and make your heirs have to inherit them. I got a 25 dollar gift card and something I have to fill out to get reimburse 100 dollars for gas. After the group presentation they ask me if they could help me. I said no gifts were giving and no push back. So I don’t really know what they did for people or the fee. Last part of the presentation they played a video clip of Dave Ramsey saying timeshares is a bad investment. Also they said they weren’t a timeshare exit company either. They bashed them too

It’s good you said no because any company that is giving you gifts and a dinner to get you to sign up is a scam.

Did they also play a video of Kevin O'Leary?

These companies rely on people doing zero research on what they are told. For the most part it works because the same people did zero research when they bought the timeshare in the first place. They are easy markes. A simple Google search shows that neither of these bills have anything to do with timeshares. One is related to education and the other to genetic grants.

Timeshare exit companies now have a bad reputation, thus why they try to lie and distance themselves from such companies even though they are one in the same. We got a postcard in the mail the other day. One of those generic ones that has no company name on it. Just to call and schedule one of their sessions that is nearby. You get a $100 dining gift card (I suspect this is a garbage Restaurant.com card) and $50 in cash.

These companies will do two things to help, maybe three. The first would be to just put the timeshare up on Ebay for a $0 starting bid and no reserve auction. If it sells, great. Second is to ask they timeshare company to take it back. The third is to tell you to ignore all communication from the timeshare company and also forward them all mailed correspondence. This is so you result in default, then foreclosure. Then when the timeshare company forecloses, you are out of the timeshare. They got you what you paid for. These three things can really happen in any order. They can tell you upfront to stop communication all while they are trying to have it deeded back or given away.

There are already a couple threads on TUG about Encore Law which come up pretty easy through a search for "Encore".

I just wanted to see what it was about and They failed to explain what they were selling.
I wasn't bored for a hour though.

Confused

Can I ask why? I would venture to guess that in all of human history no business whose model involves cold-contacting a customer, taking them out to dinner, giving them a "gift" for attending the dinner, and trying to sell them something, has been on the up and up.

Odd how they make the timeshare companies out to be the bad guys yet they use the same tactics to get people in to sell them their "services".

Food look good on the postcard. Big disappointment
