As a member of AMAC, I get offers in the mail for things I don’t want or need. I did receive an offer to join Emergency Assistance Plus…$129 year for myself and spouse. It sounds similar to what @Passepartout used when Mrs. Passepartoit had a mishap in Mexico. It will cover medical evacuation to a facility that is able to properly treat you, transportation home with a nurse escort if needed, a driver to drive your vehicle back home, among other things. Most of our travel is to Disney or the northeast. We will be getting back to cruising soon I hope and also want to return to Italy and Ireland.
is it worth it? Too good to be true? I’ll need to do a deeper dive into it, but was wondering if the seasoned travellers here use something similar. Need to look into a worse case scenario…for example, a friend of our died of a heart attack in the DR. It was an absolute nightmare for the family just to get his body back here.
TIA.

I'm not worried about our trips in the USA but have thought about the "what if" regarding Mexico. We buy trip insurance when we buy our airfare. It' an Allianz policy and does cover re-patriation. $129 a year does sound like a better deal than Alianz. I wonder if AMAC is simalar to AARP ?

Just clarification, we have not used a 'bare bones' evacuation/repatriation policy. On one occasion, my hospitalization caused us to miss our original flights home, and the hospital required me to I have a nurse accompany me. Insurance arranged the details. In the most recent case coming home from Mexico, insurance, nor the State Dept would or could evacuate us. The airports were closed. When they opened, we could have come home- on our dime, but it wasn't insured.

@easyrider AMAC is an alternative to AARP. Heard about it years ago from Bill O’Reilly.

@VacationForever I did see where they gave “assistance” to fly a family member to your bedside….but seems like they just would make a reservation on an airline, not pay for it.
@Passepartout thanks for the clarification. Hope your wife is coming along okay.

I’ll definitely take the time to do more research.
Thanks all.

We have it in case we would need it in US but always buy a policy Passepartout for international travel.
