Looking for information from Embarc/HGVC owners who returned their timeshare to the company using the BuyBack Repurchase program - any successes? How long is the waitlist?

So frustrated trying to use our Intrawest>Embarc>Diamond>Hilton points to travel to Ucluelet. Waited for the six month window, unable to book, then saw my available dates disappear while I was unable to reserve them. Fed up!

thanks for any info,
- Frustrated in New England

There are 2 Facebook groups to join. The first has to be Embarc members group and once you are approved you can get into Club Intrawest Owners Ads just search for them and you can sell your membership on the site. They don't go for much (I got mine for free) but it is way better than just giving it back to the company to sell it again. People generally pay for the points in the account and then maybe a little extra for the underlying account. They are also great for finding tips on how to book , best type of room to reserve, etc. A lot of members also sell the reservations that they can't use and the most they can charge is the maintenance fee that they paid, so you can pick up prime reservations for exactly what they are worth as an owner.

Also to be honest I am not surprised that you could not book prime summer time at Ucluelet only 6 months out. As you know you can book 6 or more days at 11 months out. Ucluelet only has 10 Embarc units so I'm sure most of them go at the 11 month mark and very little if any would be left at the 6 month mark. To get the Ucluelet resort I booked 11 months out for 6 nights at exactly the 9 am Pacific time window. The best you can do now is to check the site for cancellations which is tedious. I wish they had a wait list like Worldmark does.

If you own Embarc points, why are you waiting till six months to book Ucluelet?

Also, it you bought recent enough to have HGV Max, do you still have an outstanding loan on the timeshare? If so, there is no deed back option available.

There is currently no buyback program for Embarc.
Tacoma has explained our FB groups very well. Our main group - for Embarc members only - gives a lot of information on how to use your points effectively - it's not a "pretty picture" group, rather, it's information, help, advocacy for members to help members and may change your mind about getting rid of your points. Embarc is one of the easiest points timeshares to use and has very few transaction fees compared to others.
At 11 months out, you can reserve for 6+ nights, and for Ucluelet, it's not realistic to expect to get much choice/availability at 6 months out (5 nights or less) unfortunately, as it is the smallest club location in terms of accommodations.
Dioxide45 -we don't have deeds, it's strictly points-based. You are correct however that the points membership must be fully paid and points paid up to date to give back to the developer - however the Transitions program (same as Diamond's) is paused because Hilton doesn't need any more points in their inventory to resell.
I suggest Erin join the group (www.facebook.com/groups/clubintrawestowners) in order to learn more about her options.

I used the term "deed back" in a more general sense. Another term for surrender back to the developer.
