I got this email yesterday from HGV:

I think I have gotten this email in the past and have chosen to ignore it (and that is what I am doing this time also). I have 14 reservations in 2025, several of which are in SC. I don't know why HGV is picking on the SC ones or what is the purpose of it. Has anyone else gotten emails like this from HGV?

that is weird....I have never gotten that. What happens when you go to confirm my reservations? Does it bounce to a sales rep trying to get you into a sales meeting? Or, are they trying to clean up reservations that folks may cancel so there is more inventory...or they are looking for renters?

I got one for HHV in Oahu. Never received before but maybe they want to rent if not confirmed. I also noticed they will not take room requests until 3 weeks out, which is a change. Same for Marriott.

So if you don't confirm, do they cancel the reservation? I would certainly hope not. Perhaps they are hoping the reminder might make some people realize they have a reservation that they don't want and would cancel.

It reminds me of a recent promo package we booked with HGVCin Orlando. About a week after I booked we got a voicemail that we needed to call and confirm our details. I did that already when I reserved on the phone. I called but all you get is someone's voicemail. I left a message and also replied to their email. A few weeks later the calls and voicemails started again. I block all unknown callers on our phone. Returned calls just end up with voicemail. I don't know why I need to confirm a reservation I just made.

it is like me trying to weasel out of of something that my wife wants to go to...and just keep asking, "are you sure that you want to go?"....it is really cold outside right now...car needs gas...there is a lot of traffic....we can go another time....:)

I'll go out on a limb (or not) and say that til you or someone else clicks on "Explore", it is all just speculation, prob over-wrought speculation. "Do ya feel lucky?" somebody click on "Explore"> After all, it clearly says "OPTIONS", which strongly implies there will be no action taken just by clicking.
IMO, it is prob just another form of PITA gamification of marketing, constantly trying to upsell or bundle something else into the existing transaction. Maybe the "options" are to rent a car via the Hub, maybe choose something else for some fee? Nothing ventured. Nothing gained. On both sides of the buttons.

I don't think so.
very much doubt so. The wording is as clear as a big Corp can be. Not that you can really trust the marketing detps of big Corps not to do dumb things, but ... nothing there says anything about Cancel. Partner marketing seems like a better guess than anything twisted is.

I have never received one. If I did, I'd treat it the same as I do anything from big Corps that isn't obviously mandatory:: IGNORE. but that's me (& GT)

My guess is this originated from Strand Capitol. That’s why it says an SC resort. They are probably looking to be able to use any weeks not being used for rentals on the Hilton Hotels system. I checked out what our 10 day stay in a 3 bedroom plus at Enclave. It would have cost to go through the rack rate. It was over $16,000. Would they get that? Probably not but they could break that up, take less money per night and still make a lot.
