Elysian Resort on St. Thomas

Not recently but the location is nice being near Redhook, decent beach and pool, have read reports of good restaurant on site.

We spent a week there last December. The units are clean with everything you need for a week, but nothing special. Be prepared that there are several buildings and its hilly. You may be in the building furtherest from the beach, restaraunts and bar, making it either an up/down hill walk or drive the rental car down and back. We were surprised at how unfriendly the staff was especially the front desk staff. There is a very tiny gym onsite. The beach is small but there were adequate chairs and palm trees for shade. The grounds are well kept. There appears to be very good security as well. Beach towels have to be checked out & returned to the office. There is an activities desk by the beachbar, but most of the time there was no one there. Since we had a car we did our own thing. We did sign up thru the office for a day trip to St John. They bus you to another resort to catch a ferry boat over and back.

The small beachbar/snackbar food & drinks was just OK. The location to Red Hook is the best thing about this resort. The one restaurant was expensive for what you got, but the food was good, the service was not. There are much better restaurants in Red Hook.

Please be aware that you will need a rental car. St Thomas is very hilly and curvy. If we were to go back to St Thomas again we would stay elsewhere. We spent 3 days at the Marriott and it was very nice and the staff was excellent. The best things we enjoyed about our trip was a day trip to the BVI and the day trip to St John.

Hope this helps.

Suzanne

I am actually hoping to get something on St Johns but there is very little by way of trading. I have stayed on St Thomas for a week and agree that a car is a must. In fact, we are going to fly into St Thomas, rent a car and take it over to St Johns.

Better not call it St. Johns at the travel agency or airline. They may send you to Newfoundland
