Does any own an electric toothbrush. My DH want to buy one and we know nothing about them - which one do you like, dislike and where are the best deals on these? Thanks a bunch!! :D

I have a Braun which was recommended to me by my dentist several yrs ago. I buy new brushes every few months.

There are probably newer and better ones now but I still use my braun. The brush shuts off when you are supposed to be finished, I think 2 minutes although I never timed it.

I have a Sonicare Elite Pro that my dentist recommended. Costco sells the replacement brushes & maybe the whole toothbrush, too. I think I bought mine on the internet after searching for the best price.

I like the travel case it comes in and it will work for about a week without being recharged if I'm going on a short trip and don't want to take the charger. It does a great job on my teeth and gums.

I'll second the Braun. I've been using one for about 15 years - not the same one though. The toothbrushes last a long time, but I've upgraded about every 5 years or so. The toothbrushes and replacement brushheads are easy to find at Bed Bath and Beyond and Costco.

i purchased the Sonicare IntelliClean Crest toothbrush on my dentists recommendation and I really love it. It's got a good travel case and the charge lasts 9-10 days. It also has a self timer and I really like the toothpaste delivery system. I've seen it sold at Costco with the replacement heads. I bought mine off of Ebay for around 60 bucks.

My teeth have never felt cleaner.

We use the Oral-B ProfessionalCare® 7000 Series toothbrush which is a Braun electric toothbrush which we bought from Sharper Image. Very happy with it.
If you go to Amazon.com and search for electric toothbrush, you will be able to read all the customer reviews which will either help narrow things down or make the choice even more confusing!

I too love the Braun. The brushhead is great for small mouths. Some of the others I tried, once they were in my mouth I could barely move them around! :)

About five years ago, this question came up. Someone whose wife was a hygenist said flat out Sonicare. He said the cheaper ones were largely ineffective. There was one brand that is only sold through denists and it was considerably more expensive and no better than Sonicare. In any case, my wife have gone with Sonicare. Both our hygenists (different denists) regularly comment upon how good a job it is doing. (We never heard comments like this prior to the switch.)

sonicare says my dentist

Sonicare! I bought the unit and replacement heads on ebay or once in awhile for CVS specials.

Sonicare says my pockets, which are down from 4's to 3's (OK I had one 4 in my last checkup but I'm in my 50's. Give me a break)

sonicare (but I don't like the auto shutoff, because I brush longer and have to restart it.)

My son use Sonicare Intelliclean. I bought that in ebay. Later on I always find it is on sale on Macy. The price is better and less hassle than ebay. My son likes it. I use prodent something like that according to somepost on the other tuggers. You can use different toothpaste. Since Sonicare Intelliclean only use cartriage from Crest to achieve better result.

I have yet to see mine any cheaper (including Costco) than what I got it for on Ebay.

I love Ebay for these sorts of things as I can usually get things for around half price of what they sell for in the stores.

Sonicare. My gums were receeding from brushing too aggressively (I didn't realize that could happen) and had to have gum work done (expensive). My dentist recommended Sonicare. Haven't had any trouble since. I prefer the kind that beeps because it lets you know when to move to the next quadrant in your mouth. It's kind of messy and takes a little while to get used to. Hang in there though, they are great. Our kids have had better checkup since using Sonicare.

That was my exact experience, too. I had a Braun, which really made my teeth feel clean, but the dentist said it could damage my gums. He thought Sonicare was better.

Another Sonicare Elite vote. My dentist recommended it. I like the auto shut off. If I want to brush longer, I add more toothpaste and start over.

best is Sonicare

A Clemson Fan with natural teeth???? You may be the first !!! (Or are you using that Sonicare to brush that one front toof?) ....(LOL, so just kidding, really!!!)... Anyway, I'll say Sonicare! And I AM a dentist. Go Georgia ! To be totally honest, it doesn't matter what one uses...even a shovel....it only matters that the plaque is removed.....if Sonicare does it for you, great. In my humble opinion, tho, it's the best of those type gadgets....and please excuse me for adding what you don't want to hear: if you're not using floss, you're totally missing what causes 90+% of gum disease and cavities after the age of 25, and most don't realize this fact. It's what's left BETWEEN the teeth that matters, and a Sonicare (or whatever) never addresses that area AT ALL. So, Sonicare AND floss! And, I will also add...Listerine, which has been shown to be a fantastic adjunct to oral healthcare, from the literature...So, in summary..in order of importance: (1) Floss, (2) Listerine, (3) brush of some sort (Sonicare included) jme :D

eBay Sonicare

If at 1st I don't succeed, try again & again.

My earlier try at snagging an eBay Sonicare didn't go through -- that is, it did go through but afterward the seller discovered the power handle didn't work, so he refunded my purchase & shipping money via PayPal.

This afternoon I successfully snagged another eBay Sonicare -- brand new -- for less than the previous attempt at snagging an eBay Sonicare.

I work for a dentist and we all use Sonicare! Also their warrenty it the best out there. Sonicare will usually send the dentist rebate coupons and they even accept ones that have an expired date. They are really great to work with! Jan:)

I have no experience with the braun, but for me its Sonicare, no question. I have used it for about 5 years. Before sonicare, my dentist would scrap my teeth for 15 minutes trying to get the effects of pipe smoking off my teeth. Now, maybe 3 minutes. Also after each brushing your teeth feel like the dentist just cleaned then.
By the way, the reason I bought sonicare in the first place, was the excellent reviews I read on this site.
