I have a deeded week at Vistana Falls (Vistana Resort, Orlando). I've had the deed for some 30 years. It has never been part of the StarOptions system.

I also have a MVC trust points account.

The Marriott call center tells me I can deposit my deed into the Club in exchange for points, and that Vistana will make the deposit. The Vistana call center tells me that I cannot deposit the deed because it is not part of the StarOptions program.

Can someone tell me: who's giving me the correct information?

Thanks, Michael

If it isn't in VSN, then you can't convert to Club Points. Vistana call center is correct.
You’re probably right, but don’t I remember that all Vistana ownerships purchased before a certain date, including unqualified resale purchases which were not in VSN, could elect to be part of Abound?

Maybe that doesn’t apply to legacy Vistana Resort VOIs which exist completely outside of all of the exchange networks (except perhaps for II.) I’m definitely not saying you’re wrong, I’m just curious as to why this person's VOI would be excluded. But I realize that there may be some weirdness with old VOIs which existed before Starwood came along and incorporated the Vistana property into their new scheme.

@nuwermj If you look at “What I own” on the Vistana dashboard, does it show anything for the Club Points value?

Any voluntary or non VSN VOIs are were not eligible for Abound either before or after the August 2022 cutoff. Eligibility only applied to mandatory resale ownerships purchased before the cutoff.

The bottom line is simple. If your ownership does not receive StarOptions, then it is not currently eligible to elect Club Points. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Only resale mandatory VOIs owned prior to the announcement of Abound were given Abound access. And mandatory VOIs are, by definition, part of VSN. Un-requalified voluntary resales, which are not part of VSN, were not given Abound access.

If my voluntary resales deed is requalified, then it would have Abound access. Is this true? Is requalifing the same as becoming a member in the Vistana Signature Network? I have papers offering such a membership, but they say nothing about Abound. Here is what I'm being offered:

1. Access to 23 VSN resorts in popular vacation destinations like Hawai‘i, California, Colorado, the Caribbean and more without paying additional exchange fees.
2. The flexibility to convert your week of ownership into Marriott Bonvoy™ Points, which can be used to enjoy free nights at more than 7,000 Marriott Bonvoy Hotels and resorts worldwide.
3. Annual membership in Interval International®, an External Exchange company that gives you access to more than 3,200 additional villa-style vacation resorts in 80 countries.
4. Home Resort Reservation Periods that give you four months to book a villa at your Home Resort before other VSN members
5. Banking & Borrowing of StarOptions to add more flexibility in how you utilize your vacation ownership

I don't have access to the Vistana dashboard. I have to (can only) deal with the resort directly. My deeds were acquired in the early 1980s and have never been included in any subsequent programs.

There was a special assessment in 2006/2007 at SVR and all existing owners resale or original owners, with the exception of Cascades and Lakes phases, were offered to join SVN as part of the deal. Resale Cascades and Lakes owners were excluded because by the time Sheraton took over, they started selling Cascades and Lakes and original owners were invited to join SVN back in 1997. You must have declined to join SVN back then.

I am an original owner at Lakes and I kept declining to join every year and finally around 2008 I was given the ultimatum as the final offer to join SVN and it would not be offered to me again. I took up the offer then.
