Friends and I are planning a girls week in December and are considering Edisto Island for its proximity to Charleston, etc. Which of the Wyndhams would you all recommend as the better one--Wyndham Ocean Ridge (#0955) 2BR for 8 or Wyndham Ocean Ridge II (#6466) 2BR for 6.

Neither one has fabulous reviews, but for those of you have experienced both or either, which would you choose again?

Thanks.

Ocean Ridge is divided up into a number of different sections. We stayed at the Baypoint section (units 948-991, sleep six) which is on the sound. We could see dolphins in the water from our balcony. There is no pool in this section; the Marshpoint (701-748) pool is about a five to ten minute walk away. The resort is very spread out. From Baypoint you would have to drive to get to the mini-golf, main pool, activities area, etc. or go for a long walk along roads without sidewalks.

The older parts of the resort are nearer the golf course, activities center, etc.

Many sections of this resort are elevated and require going up one or two flights of stairs to get to the unit. Many have parking under the buildings.

Baypoint is the only group which has ocean views. MArshpoint is close to the only indoor pool, although as stated above, only a short walk.

We LOVE Ocean Ridge, it is our favorite Wyndham resort! I thought I wrote a good review (?).

If you're thinking more of a Charleston focus, I'd recommend the Wyndham at Lake Marion (Santee) instead. Villas are brand new & lovely...and they have 3 br units too. There's no ocean, but there's a marina with access to Lake Marion & I'll bet you could rent a boat and/or a pilot to take your gal pals on a fun outing on the lake. The drive to Charleston would be as quick as the drive would be from Edisto Island to Charleston. To get onto and off Edisto from the interstate feels like it takes forever...and in December there's not much to do, restaurants (already sparse) close or have shorter hours, etc. Hey, whatever you do...have fun! :hi:

Thanks so much for your quick responses. Edisto is just one of those places I've always wanted to go and have a week to use up and those are the options available there right now. I'm a little confused by the Baypoint and Marshpoint. How do those names correspond to the RCI numbers 0955 for Ocean Ridge and 6466 for Ocean Ridge II. Something tells me maybe Baypoint is Ocean Ridge II because of the 2BR for 6 and perhaps Marshpoint has the 2BR for 8?

We loved Edisto Island and it is a very easy trip to Charlston. The resort does offer a trip there as well as alot of other great activities.
