Ebay: do bidders know if seller changes listing?

This ebay listing is very misleading:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250386160912&_trksid=p2759.l1259

They say in two places that it is platinum and then they slipped in an update that is is actually silver season.

Does ebay inform people who have already bid when a seller revises their listing? This seems pretty outrageous to me if they don't. I realize that the fact that it is week 33 means that it is silver, but someone who doesn't really understand the Marriott system may not catch this.

(The seller also responded to a question that you could "reserve" a spring week through II. Also very misleading.)

1. To the best of my knowledge, any time a listing is "revised" after being posted, that fact of "revision" is so indicated on the listing info itself (by eBay). That's not the same as individual bidder notification, but it nonetheless constitutes an open notification and acknowledgement to all that a change has, in fact, been made to the listing.

2. Factual errors are common in many eBay listings, where mega sellers routinely (and sloppily) "cut and paste" material from one ad into another. Errors frequently occur in the couse of that "cut and paste" exercise when insufficient attention to detail is paid.

3. Some sellers don't actually know much about timeshare products, procedures or practrices to begin with. Accordingly, what you might characterize as "misleading" could just as likely actually be "uninformed" --- but wrong info is, of course, still wrong info in any case, whether intentional or not...

Two words --- due diligence.

Hi.
Click on bid history,it shows 1 bid was retracted due to changes in listing. There is info on when you are allowed to retract.
Click on view all revisions,it states when you can retract a bid.
This is a private listing so be careful and make sure you have a good closing company.
Good luck Bill.
Timesharing is a game, learn the rules and play to win.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not interested in this listing and wasn't interested even before it was revised because I knew it was in error. I only asked the question because I have bought several items from ebay in the past and didn't realize I needed to check the auction before close to make sure nothing had changed since I had bid.

AFAIK, they do not notify individual bidders; however, a wise bidder will check the listing b4 increasing a bid -- its what I do (admittedly, not in the last 2 minutes). :) If there is a adverse change, that would be grounds for retracting a bid (which I did once) or refusing payment. TS bids are not binding anyway.

BTW, I just won an item and the seller now says that, contrary to his listing, he now says that he can't accept CC payments. He asked if he could send it COD, and if not, he's also willing to send it to me without payment, if I will send him a check, later. WTF? I told him that I'd send a check, after inspecting the item and if it was what I bought.

Where on ebay's listing do you click to see an items revisions?

Its in the original listing, usually in the middle, usually just after the basic description and before the specifications, with an easily missed heading that reads something like, "Seller has added the following:"

You know, I've been an ebay member for many years and often wondered the same thing- when I see that the listing has been revised, what, exactly was revised? I never see a definitive answer (compare old with new) I only see the Title or Description was changed and never any comparison-maybe it's because I wasn't bidding on the original item so it should be of no interest to me??

I've bought 9 TS's on Ebay and most had errors in the listing. Sometimes those errors work to your advantage. I always check out all the details before sending any $'s. I pretty much assume that the stuff in the listing is not totally accurate or complete unless proven otherwise. From what I can tell, Ebay does little to assure accuracy in their listings.

A bit off topic but DO NOT SEND A CHECK. Search for scams. It seems to be in reverse here, but people want your checking account number. COD, and Checks are HUGE red flags for scams.

Who sends an item for sale for nothing? Not a legit seller. A few threads on this scam can be found here if you search.

Yeah... y'know, I thought of that, too.
This guy gave me his bank account # and rounting #, in case I wanted to pay via Western Union (offering to absorb the fee). So, I'm inclined to think that its he who lacks common sense. But I've decided to use the W-U option, instead (if he sends me the item).
