Puerto Vallarta sustained a 7.6 earthquake and several resorts were badly damaged. Club Regina is one that was names as among the 4 worst. It had a photo of the tower where the elevator and stairs had the stucco badly damaged. I do not have better information at this point but if you have reservations in next few months, it would be wise to check with your resort in Puerto Vallarta.

NOT what is needed there just going into their busiest season. Thoughts are with the residents and visitors there.

Here's a letter that I received today. So far, all reservations until October 9th are cancelled.

Please be informed that due to an earthquake that struck the southwestern coast of Mexico on September 19th, Club Regina Puerto Vallarta has been temporarily closed. The 7.6-magnitude earthquake’s epicenter was about 200 miles southeast of our resort, and we are happy to report that all guests and staff remained safe and unharmed during the event, and while many properties such as ours were affected, no significant injuries were reported in the city. It will take time to complete the structural assessment and complete the repairs at the resort, but we will keep you updated as to the progress.
As such, all reservations to Club Regina Puerto Vallarta with a check-in date between now and October 9th will be cancelled. Points will be refunded for these reservations, and members affected may call a Raintree Vacation Club Guide at 1.800.424.6532 or locally at 317.805.9167 to choose alternate dates or a different Raintree destination for your vacation.
We greatly appreciated your thoughts and concerns during this event, and we thank you in advance for your understanding through these upcoming weeks while prioritize your safety.

Yes, the earthquake was centered between Manzanillo and Acapulco. A few resorts in Puerto Vallarta did have some minor damage, but not much. Two people were reported killed overall, and one article said a total of 200 buildings were damaged. As far as September 19th Méxican earthquakes go, this one was pretty minor, although they're getting a ton of aftershocks.

Thanks for the heads up DonnaD. I read about the earthquake but thought it was too far away from PV. Between the airlines changing our flights to PV every month and now an earthquake , I wonder what's next, lol.

I received information from Raintree Vacation Club that they have repairs underway now and that they will begin accepting guests next week on a limited bases while restoration work continues. The structural engineers have reported that the structure itself is safe and secure. Cosmetic damage is being repaired. By the time the snowbirds arrive, they will be in good condition.
