I've heard that this and the Black Sea's flooding was the origin of the Noah's Ark biblical stories. Makes some sense.

However the flooding discussed in the Article would have happened millions of years before even Mankind's Ancestors were starting to evolve.. Many ancient civilizations around the World have stories about a Great Flood long ago.
