My in-laws are DVC owners. They are considering adding their three adult children (including my wife) to their deed. Would this make them eligible for the Sorcerer annual pass? Additionally, would I (and our children) be eligible since we're part of my wife's household?

This might be a better question asked on DISBoards. I know one of the moderators added their adult kids to their deeds...

Thanks! I created an account and added to DISBoards under DVC-Mousecellaneous. Let me know if you think there's a better location as I'm new to the site.

We added our adult daughters to one of our memberships/contract bought direct from Disney. And yes, our daughters and their household are eligible for the discounts. We contacted DVC and they told us what we needed to do to add our girls’ names and provided a waiver for a gratuitous transfer.

The Disboards has a helpful thread on adding names to a contract:

Yes- if the contract is “membership benefits eligible” ( blue card )
Thats the big question- over the last couple of years DVC has changed the definition of eligible quite a bit, but the good news if it was ever a “blue card” membership it’s generally grandfathered.

I had looked into this quite a bit preCovid, for my twenty-somethings especially after my oldest got his first apartment. The old mouseowner.com boards ( now magicowners ) had tons of information on this including a template for doing it yourself.

@noreenkate thanks for the info on magicowners. I liked mouseowners but couldn’t find them recently.

we added our adult son to one small contract (but not the spouse)….our daughter is already on most contracts. It was only 50 or so points and direct from DVC. We were not excluded from doing so, even though their current minimum is 150 I think? Not sure if it was because it was direct and predated that rule.

I may add daughter to our BWV contracts but do the transfer myself. We paid a title company to do the one with our son. Those directions posted from the disboards are very helpful and I’m not in a hurry.

LT Timeshares, readylegal@gmail.com, added our sons' names to our DVC and they now get mailings from Disney and get all benefits. It was so worth the $250 or so that it cost us. 7 grandkids and 8 adults, and we all get benefits.

Thanks for this! I paid $400 in 2018. As I said, I was in a hurry before his wedding date. Even so, not sure if it would protect the contract if the marriage dissolved, hence picking the smallest contract. Definitely worth the $250.

I saw your DISboards post, so I know you got your answer. But to be complete for others here who don’t read there, yes, your children who are added to your deed can buy Sorcerer APs for themselves and people who live in their household, up to 8 people per household.

Has anyone traded existing (unused) tickets in for an AP? We have four 5-day passes that we want to trade in for the Sorcerer Pass tomorrow. Has anyone done that online and had any issues with it? I used the online chat on My Disney Experience and they said it shouldn't be a problem.

From what I read over in that thread on DISBoards, you should have the option online to change ticket (or something similar). Right now it might just give you options for a longer stay, but tomorrow it might give you the option to change to the annual pass. Give it a try and if it doesn't work, you will have to call and probably wait a long time...

Yeah, that's what I'm worried about. Thanks!

Shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, but the online system crashed after less than an hour this morning. If I were going to buy a DVC Sorcerer AP, I would have planned to do it tomorrow or the next day.

I used the value of an unused ticket for an AP renewal a few weeks ago. The only 'trick' was that I had to call the WDW ticketing phone line - the CMs at neither the VIPassholder nor DVC phone numbers could do it.
