Am looking at purchasing disney resort points. Trying to figure out how reservations work. If you have small amount of points at Beach club, Bay lake tower and Polynesia. if you want to reserve at Beach club can you only reserve at 11 months for the amount of points you have at Beach club or can you reserve 11 months for the total of points you have
 
Points retain their home resort so can only be used at their specific home at 11 months-can’t combine until 7.

There are several DVC forums on Disboards you could investigate.if you haven't seen them.

DVC points are expensive. The system isn't too complex, but like all timeshare systems, it is crucial to know what you are buying ahead of time to avoid disappointment.
 
Also you are able to borrow and bank for each home resort effectively giving you 3 years of points to use at one time if you manage it right. We have a small OKW contract and this has worked well for us. The rest of our points are at VGC since that's so hard to ever get without home priority. If I was to buy again I would always buy exactly where we mostly want to stay and that is the hardest resort (smallest) to book so you get the 11 month booking advantage.

For the past year or so DVC owners have only been able to borrow 50% of their points. It is unclear if this restriction will be lifted anytime soon.
